Finally Started The Rebuilt Motor

We started up the car today and at first we thought there was a problem with the timing chain tensioners. Then, we discovered that the stock oil pump isn't strong enough to push oil thru the system I have, too many long oil runs. When we bypassed the relocated filter and cooler, oil pressue came back to 45 lbs and the noise disappeared. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting more pressure?

I know one thing, this motor now has attitude at idle. The engine has that high output loping sound from the JWT cams! It really sounds bad ***! We took it for a test ride and the difference in power is amazing. The tires broke traction at a quick half throttle in second gear and that was on a straight away. I will be breaking in the engine for the next 1000 miles and I'm sure there will be many bugs to iron out. I won't be dynoing or going to the track until I take it to JWT for the final tuning dial in.
I'm very satisfied with the way the car runs now and the I30KRAB will be a real sleeper.
By the way, We'll be working on a way to make a removeable bracket piece on the stillen bracket so the damn SC belt can be changed without removing the SC .

Holy crap. Your car gets more crazy by the month. For the oil pump thing, you might want to see if the other stock Nissan oil pumps are stronger. ie.. for the old Datsun L series engines, the 280zx turbo oil pump was rated for a higher psi. So maybe one of the other VQ series oil pumps might be better. ie.. jdm VQ30DET or maybe even a SR20DET or the jdm VQ20det.

An oil pump from a VQ30DET should be beefy enough for your application. I'd like to hear a sound bite of the car with cams.

Good to hear your car is back and working for the most part. I was wondering how much these cams will cost the public and what kind of gains are to be expected?
