I concur.

The '99 FSM indicates that the cooling fans are 2-speed and operate together, not sequentially.

Check to see if they are both running with the car not moving and the a/c off. The fans should NOT be on if the radiator coolant is below 203 deg. F (95 deg. C). They should be on low speed between 203-221 deg. F (95-105 deg. C) and on high above that.

With the a/c on and the car not moving, both fans should be on low below 203 deg. F (95 deg. C) and on high above that.

Possible causes for the fans not coming on are bad fan(s), the temperature sensor or the fan relay.

fans...

they are running. don't know if on high or low, but they are running. checked the temp at the dealer a week ago. it was 200 to 205 at idle, no fans running and the temp gauge was normal and centered. it is possible that there is a air bubble in the system that is causing the problem from when the hoses were replaced. i will test to see if i can get all the air out of the system. later.

Well, there is no bleeder valve on the 4th gen's. To get rid of air in the system, the FSM says to:

1. Fill radiator and reservoir tank to specified level.

2. Warm up engine to normal operating temperature without radiator cap installed.

3. Run engine at 2,500 rpm for 10 seconds and return to idle speed.

4. Repeat two or three times.

5. Stop engine and cool it down; if necessary, refill radiator up to filler neck.

6. Refill reservoir tank to MAX level line.

7. Repeat steps 2 through 6 two or more times with radiator cap installed until coolant level no longer drops.

8. Check cooling system for leaks with engine running.

9. Warm up engine and check for sound of coolant flow while running engine from idle up to 3,000 rpm with heater temperature control lever set at several positions between COOL and WARM. Sound may be noticeable at heater water ****.

10. If sound is heard, bleed air from cooling system by repeating steps 2 through 12 until coolant level no longer drops.
