i'm so stupid i noticed all the signs of a hacker and i just stood there and kept using the computer. my internet slowed down alot, i was prolly moving at 56k. then i noticed the programs were moving slow too. i was typing and there was a dely. and this just happened out of nowhere. my computer never did this before. don't think you guys care but i wanted to share it with you anyway. i think the person might be on maima.org, only because maxima.org does log your ip address. unless they did it trough aim, but noone who's a hacker knows my aim s/n. and the only other port open is the port realplyer is using.

I dunno if I'd classify that as a hack,

most people usually just screw the person over the first chance they get. Only the vindictive (or bored) ones do it to poke around and snoop where they shouldn't be. But in any case, you probably just had a computer fart or something of that matter. Get a back orfice scanner and double check you don't have it. Unless you're running some wack programs or operating system, gaining access into a userless based system such as windows can be difficult.

Run a disk defrag, reboot yer puter & get a backorfice scanner, should clear any problems.

why wass the ping program runing?

i when to shut it down a and it siad you have to close ping first. now i know i didn't ping anything. and there was some other network thing open, i've never seen it before. it was in the list of task open.

i'm not saying your wrong it could of been the search engines doing there check(forgot the technical term). but then again i didn't use any old search engine, i used msn like always.

just as an FYI...just about everysite you visit logs your IP address....

what kind of connection do you have? if its cable or DSL you may want to consider a firewall if you don't have one...

i had a firewall but it got in my way so i don't use it.

i have cable and i know a thing or two about computers and the internet so you think i would use the firewall. i also stoped using the anti-virus program. really stupid but i figure i could always reinstall everything if i had to. even though they have viruses now that does seriuos damage, like erase your bios and ****.

and i do know most website log your ip but i only when to two web site besides maxima.org. you guys should of seen the way the computer slowed down. it was unreal, and it did it for a while to. my computer never slowed down like that before no matter what.
