for the auto's with 5 speed envy mod...

For all the auto's who are tired of people looking in and saying, to bad its an auto here is the mod for you.

Replace the shifter plate around the shift handle with a manual boot. In this way it will be hard for to tell its an auto and you still have the RND12 in the dash.

I'm not going to do this, just an idea I had.

It has nothing to do with manual envy. People do it because they like the look of it and the stock shifter is @$$ ugly. BMW automatics come stock with a boot as well as many other cars. They're not envious of 5spds, but it does look better. And BTW NISMO created this mod for 4th Gens, I just publicized(sp?) it.

it's not really the look that auto owners are envious of... it's the fact that their slushbox has sloppy, slow shifts compared to my sts 5 speed. it's the performance not the look!

This can be resolved or remedied by a VB upgrade/mod. A tranny in good mechanical shape with a VB mod is not anything to sneeze at. If you notice, most of the fastest maximas on this board are auto's. Not taking anything at all from 5spds, just saying it's not the end of the world if you're an auto. You just have to be a little more creative.

theMax: I don't know about you...but I dont have a PRND12 in MY dash...but who needs it? its not too hard to remember what position the shifter is in, and if you forget when you're standing on a light, push down on it to make sure its locked in D.

All the 5th Gens have that standard. Us 4th Gens have the place for the LEDs to go but it was never wired.
