No offense donovan.. but as i stated early.. a "show" car is a car that is all around modified.. your interior is stock. you have gauges, and stereo, but nothing done to the dash.. as far as i can see cloth seats?? maybe stock leather? and the porthole on the rear deck needs some work..

congrats on some shows and motm i dont mean to offend you in any way, yes your car is more modified then most out there.. but for this thread it's more the crazy *** cars on here.

My car used to be a show car, now its sitting up on jackstands in my garage stripped and awaiting its new taillight conversion, new bodykit, new brakes, new wheels, and some underbody work.

Your car is nice, but I think the color hurts you, take a look around at the colors of the cars that every else is mentioning. Your color looks kind of bland so it doesn't really stick out to the eye. Also, some people just don't like the look of 5th gens, actually quite a few don't. Thats why my fav's are 4th gens.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: WTF?!?!?

I don't consider my car a show car either. To me, a show car is a car that is built to win shows. My car is built to make me happy. If I had forgone the SC and performance stuff, I'd have a lot more show stuff on the car. But I wouldn't have been happy with the car. A lot of true show cars are really, really tacky. But to win shows, you have to top the next guy so the cars are getting wider and wider and the conversions/molding/shaving is getting crazier. I'm never going to put something on the car just to win a show. So to me, the car isn't a show car. It's my interpretation of what a car should be.

Very nicely put Jeff, I agree 100%! I have done a bunch of stuff to my car and have spent a lot of money in "show" items as well as "speed" items, but to me it is just whatever you want to do to your car that makes you happy and if you think it looks good or is really fast then CoNgrAtuLaTIonS!!

Looking forward to Nopi this year, there is going to be some good competition!

And Jason(thebigsadler), I am already home and yes we should definitely meet up and cruise in together, call me!

Ok J,...Lets assume that the point you just made was actually a suggestion and not hate (even though it did smell a little bit like beef!) I can accept constructive criticism and not be offended either because I know where I stand and I'll be the 1st to acknowledge the parts of my car that need work. By the way I didnt know we were offering citicism to each other and I didnt ask why anyone thought my car was NOT a show car...ANYWAY... before anyone else wants to critcize me lets make sure we have our facts straight...this is partially my fault but, my site is not updated w/my new stuff. My interior is not even close to stock as far as 5th Gens go, I do have cloth seats but judges dont seem to notice and yes my port hole on the back deck does need to be "touched-up" no big thing. Now without getting too immodest and listing all my mods... let me just make my point and pose a question in return. WHAT IS A SHOW-CAR ANYWAY as it pertains to Maxima owners on here? What do you have to do to your Max to be considered a good show car?
As far as the "show & go" theory goes.... its pretty obvious who is "all around modified" on here and who is not. When you enter a show/competition (because you do compete) it only matters what the car enthusiasts and the judges think. Your job as a contestant is to be as meticulous as possible with what you have to work with and you'd be surprised where that will take you. Fact of the matter is... I'm very proud of what I've done with my car and I'm glad to say there are many other enthusiasts who have encourged me to keep on goin! I mod for me and everything you see on my car was done without any sponsorship at all!! It just so happens that with all the work I've done thus-far, I've been able to win a few shows!...Remember also that there are VERY FEW Nissans that are dressed up enough for show so what some people might think is kinda plain, may actually be an upgrade to those who know about the history of a particular car...but, let me stop rambling... I'm not professing to be some great show car either but like I said... with so few Maximas "done-up" out there I'm glad with what I've been able to accomplish so I show it and a helluva lot more people like it than dont!!! What do you guys think it takes to be a show car and be successful? And save the criticism for people who ask for it thats not what this thread is for... now FLAME-ON!! :

Rich's yellow maxima deserves some recognition. He actually kept his car running for more than 4 years and took his car to more car shows than anybody. What most people don't realize is how much time and effort it takes just by going to shows. This is not counting hours of prepping the car and working on mods. For indoor shows like HIN, you have to fight Friday afternoon traffic and get there the night before. For outdoor shows, 8 hours straight under the July sun in 100 degrees temp. Just this year alone, there are more than 30 car shows in the northeast area.

okay.. while we are on it.. what is done in your interior? i saw gauges and a fire extinguisher.. there is no doubt you have a kit, some nice wheels, a pretty sweet looking stereo, and a blower.. but nothing really stands out as stated before.. you jump in here saying you should get some love cuz you are motm () and because you have won shows, and i decided to offer my opinion as to why some people including myself haven't chosen you.. let me see some pictures of the stuff you have done that's not on your site.

i am not trying to be a hypocrite because i dont know how well you know my car so i'll let you know that i would not accuse you of not having stuff done if i didnt as well..

and congrats on not having sponsors, whether they havent offered help or you dont want offers is your choice, i personally like having a company invest time and money into my car because it shows that people think my car is good enough to support them.. (fyi i have about 6 sponsors, 3 of them being "full" and the others just partial).

jeff - you are out of here.. gone. but nice outlook on show, i have to agree i guess.

blake - i am going to call you in a few tonight.. hopefully you'll be around..

omg.......this thread has gone to shame

can all you girls just get along?

wtf, your car represents what you want it to be. it has no mind of it's own. it does not wake up one day and say/ hey, i want new dubs today.
show car? i think big chromed out cars and low riders are show cars.

ppl always ask me why i hook up a max and not a civic? i tell them i can't afford a civic.

my other favorite cars would be:

93-99 s500 on chrome dubss
92-95 acura legend on dubss

and maybe a volkswagen beetle in cherry red

Another thing to remember when you have your car competing in the shows is what are you competing against. Here in the Seattle/Nortwest Scene we have 8 Skylines. 2 R32's, 5 R33's, and an R34 that has been out touring the country this year. It is very hard to win a "Best Nissan" trophy if they are in the same category. 935Draggers have event coverage of the last big show here in Seattle. There you will get an idea of what the competition is in the NW.
If I were to enter into these small shows where there isn't any competition I'd have a ton of trophies. Sure, I don't have a ton of work done to my car, I just try to get the quality into it and do the best I can at making it looks it's best the day before. I'll be getting a lot more done this winter, I'll be going down to at least one show in Cali next year. I've gone to all the show's here in Vancouver BC, Seattle, Tacoma, and Portland. I can't get enough of this.

I feel that whatever you do to your car is see as an extension of who you are. You should do things to your car that you want to do. Not what other people think you should do.

On the point of sponsorship, I think it's a great think to be sponsored. How could it not be? I'd love to be sponsored. I hope that sometime next year I'll be able to. There just isn't many local companies here in the Seattle scene that would be willing to do something like that for a Maxima. Some day I keep telling myself....

lots of "show" cars have stock looking dashes.. if u see the lexus gs300 show car i helped build up u'de think his radio is stock, the radio is actually a mcintosh deck mounted behind the stock deck's faceplate. all the buttons are rewired so the the stock controls work with teh mcintosh. the interior looks near stock but if u look at the minor details you'll know the car is far from stock. alot of the stereo components in the car is "hidden" or blended in witht he interior. just the stereo alone consists of 2x7" midbass 2x10" mid bass 2x8" midbass and horns for the fronts, the rear is blank and the subs change all the time he had a pair of phoenix gold cyclones (these looked crazy) 4x JL10w6. the speakers were powered by a mcintosh amp and the subs was powered by the limited edition phoenix gold amp. body kit is shipped from japan for the aristo. 10" rims exhaust balh blah blah... all of which made this car a show car, but it looked stock.. there's the outrageous show cars and there are the subtle and classy show cars.. we each has their own definition of what a "show car" is. and technically if you compete in a show even if your car is bone stock, your car is a show car because it has been in a show and if you've never ever competed or entered your car in a show, then your car isn't a show car cuz it hasn't been in any shows.

it's funny that i never get to go to car shows, no time or car is not ready and so on. i'm still waiting for jason to finish my trunk, lol lol.

the last show i wanted to go to was the flex show in NJ, that day i went on vacation.

i hope soon to finish the truck and hit at least 1 show this year.

too many cars to list here that look very nice but i'm still waiting for the baddest max, i'm talking about custommaxima.com can't wait to see it.

okay.. while we are on it.. what is done in your interior? i saw gauges and a fire extinguisher.. there is no doubt you have a kit, some nice wheels, a pretty sweet looking stereo, and a blower.. but nothing really stands out as stated before.. you jump in here saying you should get some love cuz you are motm () and because you have won shows, and i decided to offer my opinion as to why some people including myself haven't chosen you.. let me see some pictures of the stuff you have done that's not on your site.

and congrats on not having sponsors, whether they havent offered help or you dont want offers is your choice, i personally like having a company invest time and money into my car because it shows that people think my car is good enough to support them.. (fyi i have about 6 sponsors, 3 of them being "full" and the others just partial).

Is this guy really trying to come for me or what?!?! I dont know you and you obviously dont me or anything about my car from what you've said. Once again you're entitled to your opinion but save it for people who ASK for it or for peoples cars you've actually seen or know about... Its funny how this person I dont even know or have never spoken to feels free 2 criticise me...I didnt ask you what you thought...I thought this thread was just talking about show cars? Its also funny how guys came on this thread and were joking about how they had the best show car and nothing was said but when I jokingly ask for some love I'm given the 3rd degree by this guy I dont even know!!! It seems like hate when you do things like that.
You're pretty luck to have all those sponsors too...thats always a good thing... but its a shame you have to talk smack when you probably didnt pay for alot of stuff on that car... anything you see done to my car was done or paid for by me.
Since your car is obviously a great show car because thats what you're implying, why not let us offer some constructive criticism to you if you'd like...maybe we can help or offer some ideas?!? I clicked on "your home-page" but its some other site hmmm. Please dude, save the criticism for those who want it.

no no no no... my apologies donovan.

i have no intentions of critiquing your car i just wanted to know what interior mods you had done and i let you know why your car wasnt a show car in my mind.. you boasted, playing around or not and i just replied, take it how you like, but i had no intentions of ****ing you off in anyway.. i apologize again.

i would like to see updated pictures of whatever you have been working on..

and as far as pictures of my car... i'll have recent ones up this weekend, i'll do a mock photoshoot to get it all viewable.. here is a sneak peak.. only camera i had.. and late late night, but a teaser if you will..
