I refuse to pay more than...

the MSRP of a base Z350 for a loaded Maxima.

Does that sound like good reasoning to you and/or effective bargaining?

I do remember a thread defending/criticizing Nissan's logic in crowding the ~$30k market.

The price of a 350Z has nothing to do with the price of tea in ... Unless you're gonna keep the Maxima 8 years or longer, it wouldn't be a good idea to pay more than 21-22k for a new Max imho.

I realize that there is no direct direct realtionship between the Max and the Z since they are completely different cars. It just seems strange that if I was considering a "lousy" Max, I could get a Z instead.

$21k-$22K!? Wow...sounds good, but nearly every Max in my area with a decent amount of options is at least $25k. I don't know the asking prices of the Z here yet though.

I don't think the price of a 350Z has anything to do with the price of a maxima... you should negociate by talking about other brands of four door sedans (they are all a little cheaper) i.e. camry, accord - this should help you some.

You must negotiate off the invoice price. The dealer isn't just going to drop their pants because the price of a loaded Maxima is higher that a base 350Z. They will think you are an idiot.

the best deal was the gxe, if you get one new, you have $4k left to spend on mods that you would have spent on a sunroof and climate control

The only thing with getting a GXE is that you don't get the 6 speed option.
