All Pop-Charger Owners- No Bracket?

I decided to swap my Stillen intake with a friend who had the generic cone-intake because I was having my CAI pipe custom painted. Two weeks later I noticed a black residue on the abs plastic ring on tip of the cone filter. Appearently the cone was rubbing against the enginebay, the friction stripped a bit of the black paint to bare metal. Little did I know that the cone intake doesn't come with a bracket, that's just plain ghetto. I never had this problem with the Stillen intake b/c I had the bracket to hold the K&N filter in place.

How do you 'pop-charger' guys go without the bracket piece?

put the bottom part of the stock airbox back on & let the cone filter sit on it

i put a piece of foam rubber where on the spot it was rubbing. the piece was big enough to put a screw through (the hole for one of the screws on the bottom of the OEM intake box)it looked a little silly, but it worked till i got a bracket

Me too. ...used backstrap from Home Depot and an elbow piece to attach it to one of the bolts holding in the adapter-to-maf. Running a hybrid setup but should be no different.

So if I get a Stillen pop and a franken mid pipe, I dont need a bracket right? I can just leave the bottom portion of the airbox and have the stillen sit on it right?

If i were you, i'd make your own bracket. Why would you want your filter banging up against the stock box all the time?

Geez... can't you order the piece from Stillen?

Why leave that ugly a$$ airbox bottom in there? ALTHOUGH, the frankencar/stillen isn't as snug as it could be, simply because the mounting bracket forces a small bend in the straight line the frankencar should take, and causes the rubber mounting on the throttle body to sit somewhat crooked.
But at least my Stillen POP is still held in place.

Mike

The stock air box with its air scoop, although inefficient, will bring some cold air to the filter. I think its better than just having the filter in the engine bay alone w/o the bottom portion of the box. I was also planning to use some cushions where the filter rest on the box, but wasn't sure at first if that works.

I bent 2 brackets as well. However, I need to rebend mine, my filter is banging the car and I can hear it if I step on the clutch aggressively after heavy acceleation.
