I was thinking about a pair of turn signals I saw last night on an integra -- they were really really bright white (he was coming towards me, I'll explain my objections to white rear turn signals later).. I thought they looked alright and wondered about the legality of them. As far as I know turn signals have to be orange, or else they're not legal ... BUT.

What's the deal with some of the newer cars that have entirely red-rear lights? It doesn't look like theirs a clear reverse light, and I know for a fact that their turn signal is red. It makes me wonder a little about the must-be-pure-orange law stuff I read about earlier. Why would a factory be producing illegal lights on a stock car?

Right now I'm thinking I'll just change the side marker bulb to white & leave the front bulb orange. As for clear rear turn signals, well if you want people to think you're reversing in front of em, that's fine ... stupid too =P Anyone know what the laws on this stuff is?

 

are amber not orange, and you could have red ones. red and abmer are the only legal colors.

 

I'm sure that having hyperwhites in your front or rear are illegal. I know because I got pulled over for having them before. I since change them to amber. I have amber bulbs in my front/rear turn signals, but I have the hyperwhites in my front side markers. I haven't rewired my turn signals because it would look weird having both of them on, since ones amber, and the others hyperwhites. Funky. Talking about what's legal, and what's illegal, how about having your fogs on all the time at night? I got pulled over for having mines on once when there's no fog. I am now afraid to turn them on at night. So, I usually leave them off, suck if you ask me. Why have foglights when you not going to use them.

I wasn't aware red was a legal color but that definately would explain it. That'd be pretty different having red blinkers on the front of your car. And yeah, I wanted to rewire the blinkers too, but I like the way it looks with really white headlights/fogs/sidemarkers. Bombardment of light =).

I'm pretty sure foglights aren't illegal to have on without fog. Otherwise, why would they put em on the car to begin with? Sounds like the cop was just being a pecker.

 

it looks pretty cool, i did the back ones. i have clear bulbs in but there's still a yellow tint to it. i'm going to try and rewire the front when i get my car back from the shop. its going to look cool because i have blue bulbs in there and there's a cover on the lens that say nismo racing. so when i indecate you'll see the words nismo racing flashing.

 

I've had hyper white front turn signals for about 2 months now.
They look really good.

 

Where because I am european, I want to either have a Euro car (wanted one anyways before the max) and I WANT to put amber lights in the turn signals and the clear corners.. I have Polarg blue ones that don't look anything close to blueish white, but I see cars with HID and amber turn signals and I like the look. My next car...Audi or Volvo..
