awww 2nd driveaxle snaps!
well, today we finished car surgery on the Max and we took her out for a spin. Also put in new spark plugs. Car felt pretty good in 1st, revved to about 7k and shifted hard to 2nd expecting good wheelspin but instead i hear a loud BANG and thud thud thud thud noise. Right away i was like aww sheit snapped another axle. Luckily we were close to my house so we pushed the Max home. this is the 2nd time too! sucks.

well if i think positive i could say i can snap my axles. but then always gotta worry bout breaking them and getting stuck somewhere. It also sucks to have to pull out the broken one and slap in a new one. Ive thought about stronger axles, dunno were to get them.
oh man...sad to hear.Have you tried contacting Place Racing for custom axles? There is also a company that does reinforced axles for hondas and such...I can't think of the name right now im sorry...but it will be a big chunk of change for you...anyway, good luck!
Damn, I remember how you were talking about snapping axles at the Coyote pt meet. I was wondering to myself, wow...SNAP?
I agree that you should have some reinforced ones made...it'll be a good investment for you.

Jeff (Shadow) has been talking with Vitek about getting race worthy axles made that can withstand up to 500HP or something around there. But the demand is not there, without deposits on confirmed orders, it's hard to start something like that.
I'd be more than happy to start the race axles production if we had 10 or more people I think we could figure something out.
Let me know.

We (DSM) break parts soo often we treat it like something good. It means you are making a lot of power.
So Congrats on breaking your axles

Now you know you have lots of power just need to get them axles. Shadow as posted above said he can get them. Now you have more then one option since confused posted another link.
Mathel,
What part on the axle is breaking?
The basket or the shaft?
The Nissan OE shafts are good to 300hp at launch according to driveshaft.com. I know you make more power than that but do you launch it that hard? Are you still using a rebuilt units? Maybe you should get a Nissan OE and see if they hold better.

the shaft itself broke the first time. This time was the shaft but also the basket busted too. i wasnt launching hard, i was doing a hard shift from 1st to 2nd. Car feels alot better now after surgery.

by the way, what kind of "surgery" did you do to your car? if you could do everything again would you turbo your max or get another car (ala silvia conversion)? i'm pondering whether i should stop turbo the max or build a weekend/race only S13.
