Just beat a 4th gen......

Late last night, I was going home, and a 95-96 Maxima with some chrome 18's tried to play with me.....I was in my 99 Suzuki Esteem. So I down shifted and left him. After 110, I just kept pulling away. Obviously he didn't have the C&C package, because he never caught back up. Just bored and thought I'd post.

The C&C package?

You do realize that has NOTHING to do with speed or hp, don't you?

All stock 4th Gen Maximas are the same hp and tq stock, no matter what the trim.

Is this some kind of joke?

I believe he was referring to top speed, not engine power. Only SE's and GXE's with C&C have no top speed limiters. He said the Max stopped around 110.

Bring your esteem down here to central FLA and let me whip out my huffy. I'd probubly beat you off the line, but you'd most likely reel me in..

Suzuki Esteem?? Is there something about this car that I don't know about. Was the Maxima even racing? Can Suzuki Esteems even make it past 100 MPH? I'm not calling BS, but this seems odd.

was he actually racing you or just driving fast beside you...sometimes people on here get these two things confused!

Car-Stats.com Report for 2000 Suzuki Esteem 1.8GLX Sport
Obtained from C&D June, 2000
0-60: 8.7 Transmission: Manual
1/4 Mile: 16.8

unless the max had something hugely wrong with it like bad knock sensor, disgusting throttle body and was hauling like 1000 +lbs...you didn't really beat him in a race.

perhaps the max was driving in reverse?

Actually, I know it was an auto, and it had to have a system because the back had almost no wheel gap while the front was stock high....plus, I floored it while he was still revving, and he never got up to speed....I can get that little Esteem up to 120! I outran a civic EX with a muffler the other day....I guess I got a good pick? But hey, there was prolly something really wrong with that max....before we got on the interstate, he tried to beat a taurus se to the on ramp and had to slow down and get behind him, so I knew if I picked on him a little he would go for me....BTW, I love my max, and I'm not dissing on max's, but I just had to post this!

i dont understand this post. i tought it was a joke, but he seems to be serious. even an auto max with a system (aka my car) is NOT ever gonna lose to a suzuki. especially up top. this isnt another case of maxima being gods chariot syndrome, im just being logical.

SE's = No limiter
C&C = No limiter (according to deezo)

GLE's = Limited
GXE's = Limited

...aaaand finally, GXE's = No limiter w/Uncle Ben's ECU mod

My '96 GXE Auto with C&C doesn't have a limiter unless the limiter kicks in past 129MpH... I think the only Maximas that have limiters are Black 1995 SE Autos with C&C that do 5spd conversions. Just kidding Craig, and as of rigth now there is no way to tell if a Maxima has a limiter or not except for testing it. It's too damn random.

I have a 1995 GXE. I have the C&C package (back then it was the S&C).

I have a limiter.

Once again, the ONLY way to know if your GXE has a limiter is to go out and see what it will run.

All 4th gen SEs and GLEs are unlimited.

Actually his link worked for me, and as I understand it he was saying GXE's w/ C&C and ALL SE's did not have limiters, which is fairly accurate. However GLE's also do not have a speed limiter.
