I have a 1997 automatic and i am feeling a hard shift from 1st to 2nd gear. No matter how slow i accelerate the hard jerk always happen between 1st and 2nd. I have 37,000 miles on the car. Any advice would be great.

Run the ECU diagnostic or check the voltage on your throttle position sensor.

I thought the nissan warranty is 3 years, 36,000 miles.

3 year/36,000 is bumper to bumper.

5 years / 50,000 is powertrain. ie. Engine and tranny.

I have a feeling they are going to try to suck me into the 30,000 mile service. I will call them and see what they say.

I have the same problem. I also have a 97. I thought that that was just the way the the auto tranny shifted. But mine doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes it does feel real hard, I think it shifts harder at lower speeds. I'm going to get the VB upgrade, so maybe that'll make it go away.

Thats a relief that someone is experianceing the same shifting. My question to you Breaux124 is what servicing have you done for you transmission so far? Did you bring your car in for the 30,000 mile service? I am planning on doing the VB upgrade also, not sure what to do in the mean time.

The VB mod will make the car shift hard in every gear every time.
