Glass Pack or ???

I just read an article http://www.magnaflow.com/05magazine/05sportcpg02.htm and it says, how I take it, that a glass pack will actually create more back preasre than a stock muffler! So, what is the best way to top off a cat back system? I was going to buy the glass pack tonite, but after reading that idk now.. Of course i'm looking for more power and low end boost but now idk what to get.. help?

BTW: Will that be alot louder if I chop of the muffler? just the muf not the cat or anything else..

glasspack is just a noise maker, so you can sound like a civic. if you want to sound mean just get rid of everything after the manifold and put a fake tip at the back of the car (so cops wont get you). you will have lots of noise and no exhaust restriction, sounds like exactly what you want!

edit: btw doing that is illegal but you can just say you didn't know...

I don't want to sound like a Civic!! I don't want it loud at all! I'm just looking to get rid of the restriction of the muffler.. So, if I just put a straight pipe there will it be hella loud or what?

your stock cat is fine IMO.... if you really feel you must spend money then get a R/T cat.

Why would I be angry? He actually researched his info and knows what he's talking about.

Note like someone who claims his fame on muscle cars but calls a 289 CU engine a big block

1 more time..

I DO NOT want to replace my CAT!!! The CAT stays where it is. I want to take off my muffler.. Will a straight pipe make it loud?? Thats all i'm looking for now! The glass pack isn't happening.

heres how it goes:
if you take anything off or make anything bigger, it will get louder. if you want it to be quieter, then leave stock things on and sacrifice the power. in a sick twisted way, some demented fool made it so that loudness=power

I do realize that the big blocks were back in the day of cars such as the 4-4-2. We got to borrow one for a while, cool car. The only recent car that has a true big block is the new Viper that is 503 cubic inches. They call it the 500-500-500, standing for 500HP, 500TQ, and 500cu/in.

And I definatally consider a 289 block a "big block" compared to ours. Whenever I hear one go by with a nice set of dualies I get wet in the pants.

They sell medication for that stuff you know. I just ribbin' ya anyway. But in all fairness, no muscle car head would consider anything like a 289 a "big block".

I agree with that. My parents got a 289 converable mustang. Its a real looker, let me tell ya. But it really lacks power, oh, it does sound nice though!

Now a Red w/Black 1969 Camaro SS 396 with Four on the Floor
I almost get off just saying that... aaaawwwww....
