My car was making this weird noise today after I drove home from college. After I got off the highway, when I stopped at red lights, stop signs, etc. there was a noise coming from the car, kinda almost like a "puttering" noise. I've never noticed this before...could it be my new Stillen B pipe? It only made this sound when I was coming to a stop. Hopefully, it'll be gone when I drive tomorrow...but it's scaring the heck outta me...my good ole Max sounded like a beat up Chevy tonight

Your not alone on this one,

my Max started making a weird noise today too...damit!! it has to break the last day I have it what the hell! I am so pissed off!!,heres the problem if I smack the excelerator in any given gear say 50MPH it 5th and the car shackes and makes this clunking noise from under the car and when I slow down or put it in Nuetral it makes the clanking noise, but when the car is stopped it makes no noises so I think it is a bad motter mount which I suspected was getting old before so know I have to fix it before I sell it,I sure hope it is nothing worse then a motor mount because I don't have the money right now Argh!!

The sound you are hearing should be exhaust related. The gasket between the B-pipe and Catalytic converter is broken(rotted out). Replace the gasket and add gasket sealer, tighten the bolts and the puttering noise should stop.

There are gaskets on both sides of the catalytic converter. Let the car running and slide under the drivers side to see which gasket is leaking. Replace with Nissan gaskets because they are reinforced with a metal center ring. You are loosing back pressure and the car needs it or it will get slower and your puttering will get louder.
