This is off topic but hey, you guys might enjoy it anyway.

So we're fighting to make our cars run mid 14's, maybe even 13's. Pretty damn quick for a car, especially a 4dr, no doubt. But check this out:

Reading the latest issue of Cycle World today and they had a review of Suzuki's new GSX-R600.
103.5hp at the rear wheel. Yikes
0-60 in 2.3 seconds! Zowie!
0-100 in 6.2 seconds! Zoiks!!
1/4 mile in 10.67 seconds! Shablam!!
That's their smallest displacement race replica. I can't imagine what numbers the GSX-R1000 will pull with another 44hp at the rear wheel.

Okay, so that's sick fast. Well here's frighteningly ungodly ridiculously sick fast:
This year's F1 cars are putting out over 800hp normally aspirated. Not stated but I'm guessing that's wheel hp.
They weigh 1300lbs. Holy crap.
Here's the incomprehensible part. You ready?

0-120mph in 4.5 seconds.
Brakes so strong that retinal detachment is a problem with some of the drivers.
3.5-4G lateral (sustained)
5+G under braking
Up to 7G lateral for brief instants. Ugh.
Gasp.
Holy crap.
No electronics to assist... these guys are really driving these cars at those limits.

Yeah, that is pretty insane. I remember reading an article about those F1 cars a few years back! Those things would be a blast to experience. I have a 2000 Suzuki TL1000R v-twin, and that thing has mad accelleration, it literally makes me dizzy from things going by in such a blur! With custom exhaust and remapping and a lot of other performance mods, the thing is an absolute monster! Great, now I can't wait to take the thing out of storage Anyway, those are some pretty encredible numbers for the new Gixxer, and mind-blowing numbers for that F1!

Personally I never really liked the Gixxers too much..

Sure they are fast, but they really aren't all that nice..

I would take an R6 or R1 over any Gixxer.. Hands down..

My new CBR 600F4i will be a MUCH nicer all around bike..

Besides, on a bike.. Real speed has more to do with the driver than HP.. Much more so than when racing cars..

10hp over another bike isn't going to make you take a turn any faster. It's all driver skill.

And anybody who buy's a bike to drag race? fug 'em.. They are idiots.

But you're right.. that is VERY fast.. Ever ride on an R1? I bet it will scare the CRAP out of you.. The speed of newer sports bikes (specially the busa) is just sickening.. It's impossible to describe.

HAd a modified 91 ZX11 that pulled about 10.3 in the qtr mile and I had it up to 178 or so. And I am 6'5" and 250lbs!

F1 Cars...

Ever see those F1 cars in person?

Awesome...

Do you know that the budget for a 2 car F1 team for a season is well over 150 million dollars? Yikes!!!

Well, the F1 cars are fast, but did you know that if you were in a McLaren F1 and a F1 racing car pulled up next to you on the autobahn at 130mph, and wanted to race you, you would win! 0-100 isn't that bad for the McLaren either, 0-100 in 6.8sec. 0-200 in 26 sec. So from 100-200 as fast as a civic DX runs a quarter mile

I've been to a couple of F1 races in Canada.
I was there just this past summer. Those
cars are simply awesome. The exhaust note
when they downshift is unbelievable. Oh what
I would give to drive an F1 car just for 5 laps
on a track.

F1

Yeah, we went out to Indy this year for the USGP. They were pretty f-----g loud coming down the front stretch. The big grandstands on each side amplify the noise. I mean, I'm an avid race fan, and have been to watch everything from Indycars to Sprintcars and can usually go without the ear plugs just because I want to experience it more. But at Indy it was quickly approaching pain level so I had to put them in. That was on the second level of grandstands directly across from the Ferrari garages (actually we moved all over the place). Now those guys are revving the **** out of those things inside the garages sometimes. You see everyone in the garage area cover their ears - earplugs or not. I cannot imagine what the decibel level must be.

Watching the rotors turn yellow hot under braking was a thrill too.
