looking to buy, SE compared to ES

hey,

I'm a new user to this forum (although I've been lurking religiously lately) looking to buy a maxima (man I love it :-). Checking locally around here the nicest/most affordable to me is a 99 ES.

Now the salesguy said the only difference between the ES and SE is no leather seats in the ES, which I have trouble believing because leather seats are normally just an option in an SE anyway right? so can you guys tell me what the real differences are if any?

Now I'm very sorry if this has been answered before I've tried searching and looking around this forum alot but couldn't find anything (search only allows 3+ characters to search by, so hard to find ES). I've only seen a little bit of info on any ES, mostly just people saying they have one.

Thanks

As far as I know, an ES is the same as a basic SE(no extras like leather, climatecontrol, etc)

Yes, I have one.
ES is only available in Canada. I think there are only a few of us having ES. Like erty67 said, ES is the same as a basic SE, Here are some of items missing from SE:
- No spoiler
- No Bose sound system
- No factory leather seats (you can always go for aftermarket one, which i believe is better in quality.)
- No factory sunroof
- No side air bag

The auto climate control is standard on ES. You will aslo get VLSD, TCS and ABS. I got mine with 26000km last Oct for Cdn$ 21000 before tax.

kewl, thanks a lot, ES sounds alright then (although I think it was weird to specify that little of a difference)
they are asking ~$19,000CDN (before taxes) for a 99ES manual with 62,000kms. I think I'm gonna go for it, although haggle a bit first

Thanks again
