Dyno results

Went to the dyno last night. Here are my results.

HP= 257
TQ= 275

My disclaimer is that my bottle heater was broken, so my bottle pressure was an anemic 800psi. My tuning was way off and running rich, AGAIN. I also got the dreaded CEL on the way to the dyno. Pulled the codes this morning and got 0806 and 0606. The 0806 I already knew was coming since I haven't cleaned the EVAP solenoid yet, damn lazy people . The 0606 surprised me though. It is a cylinder misfire, which would totally explain why on my last two runs (the higher netting ones) we saw a huge flat spot at around 4k rpm. I couldn't understand why the heck the car kept dropping rpms there. It did that two times in a row at exactly the same spot. The EVAP solenoid that is making the car rough idle, when I clean it out I'm hoping to not have any more codes or misfires. I'll have to do a compression check to make sure I didn't fry a ring or piston since I was spraying when it flat spotted.

If you figure the 20% drivetrain loss in, the numbers are not too bad for a 95 GLE auto with 166k still running on all stock internals.

BTW, I had company last night. Not gonna mention names, but....even with a slipping S/C belt and only registering 6 pounds of boost (verified by the dyno test equipment) and running rich and untuned...he put up some pretty awesome numbers considering. 244 HP and 261 TQ. At only 6 pounds of boost and untuned....that's pretty awesome. He's getting the AFC next week and gonna tighten up the belt some. I suspect he'll be putting up some serious numbers when he gets the 10 pounds he should be getting.

BTW, I also watched a 2002 Lightning put down some sick numbers. 385 HP and 485 TQ. Those numbers are unbelievable considering it's an auto and the numbers are TO THE GROUND. Unreal out of a S/C'd all street truck. WOW.

What jet sizes were you using? I'm going to dyno #24 nitrous with #17 fuel in two weeks. Bottle pressure makes a huge different. Another 100psi could have net you another 20hp.

You're gonna freak when I tell you...#25 N2O with #14 fuel. FPR set to 25psi!!! After all that, I'm still showing running rich?!?!

I do have the 255 walbro pump in, which I know is too much. I'm talking to a guy right now about buying the 190 walbro out of his Cobra, just don't know if it will fit. The numbers from the pump are very very close (his is a GSS242). Will check that out. I'm also gonna probably order me an Apex AFC today too.

What ticks me off is that I got the CEL AND my heater stopped working on the way to the dyno last night. Couldn't it have waited til AFTER??? Oh well, I know that the bottle pressure had a lot to do with running low numbers. I will run a compression check over the weekend to find out if I fried something (the damn flat spot at 4k) and maybe go back next week if everything is cool.

I was hoping for close to 275 hp and 300+ tq. Maybe next time.

I saw your numbers. You sound like me, a little tweeking/tuning still left. Bad part about it is we both will probably STILL not be happy no matter what numbers we get.

I'm ticked I didn't hit my goal numbers last night, but I know that bottle pressure had a lot to do with that. I had to hurry up and play with the FPR to try and compensate, but obviously it didn't work too good. Next time I'll light a torch to the bottle if the stupid heater goes out again.

Yeah, I like that!

This was the last dyno with the SC. All I wanted to see was the setup hitting over 300. You have time to adjust and tune your setup before the next session so don't dwell on the numbers. You will hit your goal with ease!

Thanks bud. I talked to the guy last night about giving us a little discount to bring in all you guys with the AFC's in (I may order me one today too) and letting us tweek them in. He did cut me a little bitty slack but not much. He told me he would let me do it for $125/car/hour. We'll see.

Nice numbers. I wished i dynoed my car on 100 shot back then.

Get a S-AFC. That will help the running rich problem. Running rich can also cause misfire, currently what i am experiencing with my WRX right now.

i know our pump is the same as the 2nd Gen DSM.. don't know if the mustang pump will work

The Apexi SAFC your talking about right? if so then order it from german techworks for $290 shipped, we can both hook it up at the same time. Also your not happy with the little problem you pointed out yesterday, I got a little something for that problem problem solved should only take me about 1.5 hours to fix that as long as the speaker box is removed. If indeed you get this SAFC then it will four of us to take the cars to get tuned. SMX, myself, you and Bosco. Anyone else that has a SAFC or Fields fuel controller can post on the SE section and we can make that five members vice 4.

Yeah I know I know. I tried when I first put the DPI in to go back to the stocker 190....big mistake. It couldn't keep up off the line at all. I just ran across a guy taking his 190 walbro out of his cobra that I may be able to get a sweet deal on, but I just don't know if I get will it fit.

Do you know where I can look up walbros at to see if using the stock number he gave me it would be possible to figure out if it would fit?

Yeah that's the one. Wayne called me today and gave me a website to go to order it for $290/shipped. Is that the same place you're talking about? I'm going to order it today.

Ok, you lost me here...which one would I order if I wanted to order one for myself. Forget the cobra guy, I don't think I'm going to get it from him, since I'm not sure if it will fit. Is this 190 walbro pump a high pressure or high volume or neither? Thanks for all the info so far.

Thanks. You know what I just noticed.....the part numbers are basically the same except for the car type on the part number. Notice how all Fords have an "F" on the part number, Hondas have an "H" and so on. Both have the 004 configuration though. I wonder if that shows anything at all?

I just emailed him to ask him before I order. I can probably get the cobra one for about half that price.....maybe I won't give up on the idea of getting the cobra one?!?.

The 190LPH is high volume so it will support enough HP at lower fuel pressure which is perfect for wet nitrous guys.

Sounds like a winner to me. Now, if the guy would contact me back, so I can find out which one to order (cobra guy or performance engineering).

You know I will hit them one day, even if I have to get another engine doing it....

I know, just my damn heater broke on the way there. I backed in and while they were strapping down I checked the pressure and it was dead on 800psi. I messed with it for a little bit and couldn't get it to come on, so I left it like that. I found the problem when I got home and now it works.

I will go back when I get the AFC or my other new project...hmmmm.

dsm's and mustangs, the pumps will interchange.
same walbro/holley number

i would highly sugesst getting a denso pump, they don't drop pressure at high psi like the walbro's do.

im currently running on a 155l/hr pump out of a mustang in my dsm.
need a bigger one
