Hood struts replacement procedure?

Is there anyway to dislodge the ball joint part? It's hard to get a wrench in there without scraping the paint off the hood.

Don't worry, it's only a few points when they judge you.

aarrggghh...I guess I could bust out my dremel out and cut a slit. Then just jam a screwdriver in there and pry the sucker open.

took forever for brendan and i to figure it out. we used a flat headed screw driver to pry that piece of plastic out...it's the thin black plastic piece that holds the struts snug to the ball joint. once you price that out, they come right off, takes about one minute. hope that helps....

You just need to work the wrench at an angle. It's a bit of a pain but not that bad. I'm pretty sure I didn't scrape any paint off.

Took 20 mins to replace both sides. I was careful with the wrench and everything turned out okay.
