With all of the free-flowing mods out there, they will make your car eat more fuel when you accelerate hard. More air into the engine means more fuel that needs to be burned to make more power. My car with an intake alone eats fuel like a mother.

Are you also driving it harder to hear/feel the difference today as well? That could affect it also.

Well, you obviously have no idea of the effects modding and fuel consumption. You seem to be naive nor can you read.

okay lets see...so you're telling me when the ECU senses increased air flow, it doesn't cause the injectors to respond by dumping more fuel please enlighten me, I beg of you?? now once you non-automtovie *** can prove me wrong, you STFU.

and once you figure out some sort of proof(which I STILL haven't seen you post) and can come at me maturely and present it, then I'll actually consider you as having some sort of brain cells.

An intake, y-pipe, or exhaust mods won't cause you to consume more fuel under normal driving. If anything, you'll probably get better gas mileage due to less restriction (ie the engine doesn't work as hard) and chances are you'll be running leaner. I've got an intake, y-pipe, and B-pipe and I still get 25mpg in the city and about 32mpg on a highway cruise.

Now for the Test Pipe . I don't own one or have any direct experience with one, but I would think a test pipe would make you consume more fuel. Most guys run test pipes with y-pipes which means you've removed all three cats therefore there's a good chance the car will be running rich at part throttle due to the O2 sensors getting strange readings. The 97+ VQ seems to be more affected by this than the 95-96s (ie the 97+ tends to throw a code). At WOT, the ECU reverts to preset air/fuel map so the consumption in fuel shouldn't be that much higher vs running a cat.

All in all, a test pipe is a poor choice when it comes to mods on an NA car or any street car for that matter simply due to the environmental problems associated with running catless. The NA VQ doesn't work hard enough to take advantage of not running a cat. If the Max is boosted, then a test pipe might yield 5-10hp depending on max power. On an NA VQ, the gains might be 2-3hp at the expense of worse gas mileage.

What I was explaining in my prior thread is that when you lay on it hard, you will use more fuel to keep up with the increase of air being fed into the engine. My commute to work is now 33 miles and I try to be a little easier with acceleration because of the added fuel consumption.

When I'm traveling and keeping a constant speed of about 75mph, my mileage is much better than before. I think I'm getting upward of 33 miles per gallon.

no codes were thrown and i didnt notice any gas mileage difference.

as dave said i gained about 3hp.

"deezo" you just contradicted yourself on your last post.

Why do I get this feeling that everyone that is trying to put me down is black

Anyway thanks for the heads up Dave, you saved me some typing and apparently these members will actually listen to you.

and you Vyrus, Cyrus, or Anus whatever you call yourself. What does being a member for a long time prove ?
