Another Maxima with 371 HP and 349 lb-ft tq

Recently I had my car on a lift and noticed a bad oil leak from my transmission. Turned out it was a cracked neutral position switch. I went to Tynan's Nissan this morning and bought a replacement.

While I was paying for the switch a guy asked me what it was I had in my hand, so I told him.

He said, "oh what kind of car?"
I said, "Nissan Maxima"
he said, "Oh! I have one of those, mine's turbocharged"
"Really :eek !?!?" I said
"Yeah it has 371 HP and 349 lb-ft tq", he proceeded
"Are you sure about that?..." I asked
(He looked puzzled)
" ... cos that sounds exactly like mine ...except mine has 371 HP and 369 ft-lbs or torque"

He asked me about some of the other mods for my car, he asked about the clutch etc.

Whoever this guy is, he reads the boards. If you are reading this, you met the REAL owner today! Next time be careful who you BS to!

I couldn't believe my ears! I should have played along to see what else this guy would say, but I was in a hurry to put the swtich on and get to work so I shut him down. I wished I had driven my car over so I could show him. Would have loved to see the look on his face!

I forgot to mention, he tried to change his story saying that it was his brother's in Austin, Texas. Unclemax, do you have any brothers (or mothers ) in colorado?

Oh and this guy drives a Nissan Sentra V-spec (nice car!)

Great story. Hey, what kind of times do you get with those numbers (0-60, 1/4 mile)?

According to the guy I met he could do

0-60mph 2.15 seconds
1/4 mile 7.23 seconds

It's a little higher than at sea-level .... I suppose I can do the same times too

I love the random numbers he pulled out of his butt on this one. I can do the 1/4 in 7 seconds in street trim in my maxima.

I think the turbonetics cellica that just did the low 7 second mark is estimated to have over 1600HP in it. Last I read they are not sure because they topped out the DYNO. But I mean heck they only have a full race setup, gutted interior, tube frame, yeah they are street legal too.

I know dude was blowing smoke but I didnt know of any t/c maximas on south so. cal and I bought a set of stock 99 rims of a kid from the org. and his **** looked fairly stock.(18's and exhaust) and he poped the hood and it was t/c , intercooled , some crazy *** ECU the he was playing with form his lap top. Monitors in the dash and seats , the works. I asked where he got it done and it was a custom fab. job. I know he's puttin down almost 400 ponies and about 20lbs of boost. Go figure. Dude might not be full of ****, but then again.

he had pics, could happen, but the only thing is that I dont think a maxima can run that high of a boost on this block.

I honestly think he blew his engine. He told me he's having it an engine built.Your call is as good as mine. All I have to say is dont race a white max that says MIMI instead of Maxima on the back. Kids schitt sounds like a nascar.

Sounds like he was full of BS. 20lbs of boost and 375hp? You get that with what? 11lbs? He's running a t3/t4 hybrid, a similar turbo to yours? Sounds hokey. You're running a t3/t40e? Forgive me for forgetting which turbo you run, but I was under the impression that the differences between the two wouldn't be sufficient to have 20lbs of boost from 1 equal 11lbs of boost from the other.

You know the standard .org reply. Unless you saw it *bs flag*. I run a t3/t4 hybrid turbo setup with 20lbs of boost and make 400hp too.

Nigel is running a t04e. The SoCal guy might have been Matthel? I don't know if matthel's car looks stock or not though.
I'm sure there are a few other modded max's out there besides the ones on this board.

The guy 420 is talking about is AVALON42. He said he wants to run 20lbs. I believe he bought parts of Nigel's kit as well.

The guy Nigel ran into is someone different..who was probably just BSing...
