Auto tranny drivers - please read HELP NEEDED

Guys and Gals -

I need your help. I recently added a tranny cooler and I have a fluid leak. I am under the impression it is coming from the radiator.

Do any of you have a diagram from the FSM which shows how the transmission oil is routed through the radiator?

I need to troubleshoot this and I have checked everything that I am familiar with. I have not been able to pinpoint the leak.

List of things I have checked:
- Hoses
- Fittings, loc tite used on all of them
- All connections
- Cooler itself

Wherever the leak is it is a very slow one. I am not losing a huge amount of fluid.

When I am sitting under the car I see fluid on the base of the radiator on the left hand side ( drivers side). I also see it on the plastic guard which covers the tranny case. The leak is coming from the are of the radiator base.

If I damaged the radiator fins, could it cause a fluid leak?

If anyone can help with this, I sure would appreciate it, my next step is to take out the whole radiator

Which Loctite?
Also, if you must, bypass the radiator and see if the leak goes away.
Are you sure that it isn't spillage?

I leaned on a radiator barely and sprung a coolant leak once. Damn cheapo imported radiators. So, it could easily been damaged during the install.

What I am curious about is how the Transmission fluid runs through the radiator? I originally mounted my tranny cooler just using zip ties and some of the fins were bent. It was mounted about half way up the radiator.

I now have it mounted properly and may have to bypass it to check.

Thanks for the idea.

Remove the plastic under covering. Check the hose clamps on the tranny cooler itself and on the bottom part of the radiator. You have to tighten them fairly tight for some reason.

I was going to say, bypass your radiator all together.. your tranny cooler should work fine alone.. this way you need to not worry about your radiator leak... IF it is only leaking tranny fluid.

Are you referring to the plastic undercovering on the radiator itself?
There is a black piece at the bottom of the radiator that the outlets for the radiator are on.

The leak does seem to be coming from that area.

That has to be it. I believe the tranny fluid only runs in that bottom part of the radiator and it seems to be leaking from that area.

Let me know if we are talking about the same plastic undercovering.
