Questions about selling/delima
So I want to sell a transmission I acquired a few months ago. It seems to be good, but I have no way of testing it, unless i actually install in my car, and that's not going to happen. After seeing posts about people getting ripped off by sellers here, what should a seller do to make sure everything goes smoothly?
Here's why I'm asking this question:
A few months ago a friend of mine sold some pistons out of a honda he is in the process of building up (b20, but that's beside the point). I personally saw these pistons when they were removed from the engine, and they were immaculate. He posted on some civic site and sold them. He packed them well and shipped them, but the buyer didn't want to pay the 6 bucks for insurance.
A week later he gets an email saying the pistons he sold were damaged and wanted his money back and to send the pistons back. My friend requested pictures, so the person sends pictures of pistions that were scored up something bad. It was damage that could not have hapened during shipping. He then got flamed on the board as a shady dealer.
Here's my delima:
I want to be a fair seller. I would like to give someone the opportunity to install the transmission and if it's screwed, then I would like to give the money back, [bold]but[/bold] how do I protect myself as the seller from an unscrupulus buyer?
My only thoughts have been to sell the transmission ASIS, but then I'm the bad guy if something goes wrong.
Any Thoughts????

Just don't make any claims about it when selling. Make sure that the seller knows that you're not sure of its working condition.
