Brake Shields

Are there any adverse affects from removing the brake shields? I have heard that if you upgrade your rotors you remove them anyway.

more brake dust flying around... maybe a good idea to have dust boots on your struts...

my dust shields are partially cut and bent back to clear my brakes but they're still there

I've removed my front brake shields for what little additional cooling it provides.

Re: Brake Shields

Increased heat transfer to the outer CV boots. May cause them to fail earlier than with the dust shields.

So its a 50/50. I guess i'll think about it a little more. But if they allow more air flow for cooling, wouldn't that help to cool the cv boots as well?
