General SuperCharger Question For Those That Know About Them

Hey guys,

I was talking to one of my maties about his Mazda Millenia-S, which has a 2.3ltr supercharged Miller cycle engine. He like the sound of my intake and we were talking about aftermarket options for his car....

When I suggested that he make a Home Depot intake for his car he said that a local performance shop offered to do this, but that they had already done it for another Millenia-S and they wouldn't do it again. Supposedly the intake made the car idle wrong, run like crap and the supercharged didn't work as well.

So the question is.... WTF? Supercharger guys, I assume you have intakes (of some variety). Does what this performance shop said make any sense? The only thing I could think of is maybe they didn't hook up the right sensors?

Any thoughts?

All I can think of is that the MAF got screwed up. The air intake leads to the MAF, and that will cause rough idle, hunting, etc.

There's no reason why it should have done that if all sensors are reconnected and functioning correctly.

It sounds like it should have been pretty basic. I think he might be right on checking all the connections etc.

If your talking about a Custom Cold Air Intake. If anything he needs to check the connections etc...A custom CAI will make him boost higher and keep the temp slightly lower since the air is a bit much cooler been sucked in from the outside vice inside the engine.
