Saw my first REAL Skyline today...

At least i think it was. It was VERY sleak and low, sweet rims, and looked to be a blu-ish or silverish color. HIDs, exhaust, and looked so nice I wanted to cry. It was on 7100 (Fairfax County Parkway) in Northern VA. They had exited Hwy 50 West and pulled right in front of me. I was in disbelief at first, but pulled up behind it for a better look. I was behind it at a light, and noticed an odd badge on it. It looked like the "TommyKara" nameplate from Gran Tourisimo 2. Is that normal?

Honestly, it looked Better. Very wide and muscular. It really made me want to stop modding the max and get a real car...

Someday... you would.

But like phenryiv1 said, Skyline's are a LOT wider than you think and a lot lower. But one thing though, never got the hang of shifting with my left hand and sitting on the wrong side of the car, not to mention driving on the wrong side of the road. Everytime I beat myself up that I didn't have my digital camera with me that day!

Your reaction seems pretty funny because I see so many Skylines on the road that unless its a real stand-out they don't even get a second glance. But if I see a new-ish Corvette or Viper (very rare) my jaw drops.

i can confirm that this car is real. the guy lives in chantilly and it is a 1996(R33) Tommy Kaira GT-R with 17k miles. he bought it for, gasp - $40k its fully legal and supposedly insured through progressive as a 300zx tt wirth more ~ it has 396hp stock i think. heres his site: http://www.geocities.com/tkrskyline/

this guy is the luckiest man on the east coast.

Holy crap! That's a real Tommy Kaira R33! For 40K!! What a deal! Man I would have bought it for 40k. I don't need to eat.

And yes, the R34's look just as nice in real life, if not nicer. I saw a bunch in HK; all I can say is... god damn!! That's the type of car you can throw some big boobed bimbo on it and nobody notices her. My fav color was black

i have a question. How much will R34 GT-R skylines cost in 2032? factor in inflation, depreciation (if any on this car), and other factors.

Nah..in 2032 I will want a R41 GTR. Or maybe a 12th gen maxima? I can see it now...

How did he pull off insuring this as a 300ZX? I have progressive and they demand a photo inspection in like the first 5 days...well in NY that is.

And it looks like Cali plates....u sure he is on the East?

There's 3 or 4 Skylines here in Seattle - They're all owned by a shop called Garage SPL. (SPL = Speed Performance Lab)

They also have a Veilside TT Supra....Mmmmmm.

I am pretty sure that the car in the link was the one that I saw. Right color, right specs, right geography.

That this was sweet. I was speechless. Even my wife appreciated it.

Nice skyline and that is most definately a TommyKaira GT-R Vspec! Had to get but for $40k it is doable if you know where to look! Try the Japanese Auctions in Tokyo, Osaka, or Yokohama!

Update

I emailed that guy and he confirmed that it was him, so the Skyline in the Links above is the one I saw. He said it is his DAILY DRIVER, and he lives in Chantilly.

NO, YOU are the luckyest person in the world! Confirm with your wife or girl friend.

I don't know if I want a Skyline in VA though.....b/c I wouldn't be able to sit still in a restaurant w/o looking out the window to see if people are going to do harm to the car out of jealousy. Its just too much pressure of owning a STAND out car.

I have seen two skylines in So Cal. One was in the city I live in and when I saw it I kept looking at it. I think it was because of the HUGE wing it had. Ashame someone messed it up like that. The second one I saw was a month or two ago in Carlsbad. I was in the stagging lanes and I saw the front end in my rear view mirror. I saw it pull up next to me and AHH man... beautiful R-33 GTR. Everyone was checking it out. The guys friends had an NSX and the other one had a Supra. I tought I was going to race him. Lucky for me, I didn't. After my last run I parked my car in the pit area and saw them lining up. WOW, that thing took of and ran a 12.03ET and the Supra was left in it's dust with it's 12.7et run. I should have listen to my sister when she offered to lend my her camcorder.

im trying so hard to convince my dad to get a r34 gtr but he just can't let go of his 911 turbo. he says the skyline is not a car that people would look at - he says it looks like normal cars and the porsche stands out more (maybe it does ) man i wish he still liked nissans like he used to... (either way im getting a r33 gtr next summer and i will be giving test rides and show sessions at my house for a nominal fee )

P,

I just talked w/ the owner of that Skyline in Chantilly. I asked him for a ride, he (politely) denyed me, but said he would bring his car up to Evolution Autosports in Chantilly one day for all of us, and anyone else interested, to take a look at. I will post a Thread when this day will be. He said hopefully sometime next week. I was pushing for a weekend day, hope he'll comply

It's not REALLY a dealership, more of a "presence" office as in, look at us, we're here but you can't buy any of our cars cause we sold them all and you needed to be a billionaire/celebrity with a portfolio stating why you should have the priviledge of driving one of our cars and by the way, you don't actually get to own it for 1 million dollars, just the "right" to use it and we take it back when you die or don't want it anymore and should you embarrass us, we'll take the car back, thank you very much and have a nice day.
