Is the air filter box(?) the same...

during '89-'02?

If I remember correctly, the air filter from a 3.0L VG (unsure about the VE) fits a 4th gen VQ. Does it remain the same for the 5th gen 3.0L VQ and/or 5th gen 3.5L VQ?

This post is ot! LOL j/k

I had a Ve k&n panel filter. I actually sold it to a guy w/ a 2000 maxima. But it should fit the 4 gens also. I don't know if it will fit a 3.5vq though. Note: there is actually a different p/n for the 3-gen and 2000 maxima but the guy said the differences was a small adaptor or something. Anyway, when we put it into his car, it fit perfectly.

If you're the thread lock master, then I nominate myself the "Report this post to a moderator" master!

I remember there was different p/n, even though the K&N from VG fit the 4th gen with no problem. I'm not really surprised it fits the the 5th gen 3.0, but for the 3.5 ->
For some reason, I'll find it humorous if Nissan managed to keep the air filter the same 10+ yrs!

The panel filter is the same for an 89 max, 99 max, 2000 altima, 2000 maxima, and 2003 infiniti G35. Same for all. I know, cuz we've had (have) all these cars and the filter was in every single one.

In a visual side-by-side comparison, they looked the same to me.

yeah they look the same, it just with the 02 maxima the filter seemed to sit on it's side at a 90 deg angle, instead of flat/180 deg angle
