American car makers are back
I just got my new car and driver. In it they review the new dodge neon SRT-4, not a big fan of the styling but the price and performance is incredible. For under 20,000 you get a dodge neon SRT-4 that houses an inline 4 intercooled and turbo charged engine. This propels it from 0-60 in 5.6 (thats not a typo) and makes quick work of the quarter in 14.2 (the 350 Z they tested in the same issue ran a 14.3.) The best thing other than the mitsubishi 16G turbo is the compression ratio of 8:1, you know what that means, plenty of room for extra boost. Great performance great price.
If you want to go a little wilder of course there's the new cobra which rips up the 1/4 in 12.9 stock, for under 35,000. Some magazines have done simple pulley swaps, and intake swaps (both from a Ford lightning) with stickier tires, and the thing ran 11's.
Good job America!
