Question about hubcentric rings

I just bought some rota subzeros and they require hubcentric rings so can I use the rigns off my old rims for my new ones? does every brand have their own size ring they require? are these rings universal for all nissans? or do I have to buy different sizes for my new wheels?

Re: Question about hubcentric rings

As long as the outer diameter of the ring fits properly with your rims, and your inside diamter of the ring is about 66.1mm (I believe this would be the correct hub size for the Maxima), you could use all the rings you want....used or new....

Are these rings specific to a particular rim manufacturer or are they generic based on size? Reason I ask is that I have a chance to pick up some 19" rims that are on an 02 Camry and are 5x144.3. I believe the offsets for Camry rims are within the range of what will work on a Max. I know that Nissan's hub is 66.1 mm whereas the Toyotas I believe are listed at 60.06 mm. I'd like to pick these rims up but need to know if hubcentric rings are readily available to make this work.

Thanks.

Re: Re: Re: Question about hubcentric rings

I haven't gone through many rims...but I could say that usually aftermarket rims are 72mm. You mean the Camry has 5X114.3..not 144.3 ... .

You are fine for the offsets, but ask the owner of the rims whether the rims fit his Camry without hubcentric rims or not. Because, if they don't have hubcentric rims, you have to make the bore bigger (from 60mm to 66mm), like those people who put Lexus rims on Maximas. If the rims have hubcentric rims, it's most likely that the rims are made with 72mm bore (and hence you would need the 66 to 72mm rings).

I hope this helps.

Doh! I meant 5x114.3. I believe these particular rims (Masitaly Sagittas) require hubcentric rings in any application. If 72mm is fairly standard, does this mean I could go down to my local tire/rim shop and they should have various generic hubcentric rings that will reduce from 72mm to 66mm for my application? The issue is the wheels are no longer imported to the US, so before I lay out the coin, I want to make sure I can make them work for my application.

Thanks for the info!

Rich,

Seems to me that this thread is just about you and me. . Sorry for the delay, I just spent 5 hours flying from North Carolina to Wisconsin.

About your question, you might want to call up your "local" tire shop and ask them if they have hubcentric rings. I know most carry the rings, but some don't. Otherwise, call up Tirerack or Discount Tire to ask about those rings. Oh, another place to try is Enjuku Racing, they provided me the hubcentric rings for my Racing Harts I bought from them.

don't bother with tirerack. I called them about rings and two different techs got very tense when I mentioned them. Then they both told me something about "not recommending them" and they started reading a disclaimer put out by the company. They both ended the call.

I think something might have happened, or to avoid liability tirerack won't talk about them.

Good luck, and please update this thread with the results.

I called tirerack to get rings for a set of used rims and they go tthem out to me no problems. This was a couple months ago. Call any rim dealer and ask them about whether hubcentrig rings have a universal OUTER diameter. Obviously the inner diameter will be diferent, but you may nbe correct that there is a standard outer diameter. This would make it more cost effective for wheel manufacturers.

I should add, this (my earlier post) happened in late dec/early jan and I remember thinking it was strange that both techs told me the EXACT same thing... "we don't give recommendations regarding rings, you will have to go somewhere else for that."

Ardika,

Do you have contact info for Enjuku Racing? Thanks. I also put a call in to Mas Alloy to see if they have rings available. I'll ask about the hub size as well to see if it's 72mm. Now hopefully they'll call me back!

Discount Tire or Tire Rack will be happy to give you a definitive answer. It's worth a call to either place to get the right info.

It's at http://www.enjukuracing.com
Phone number is 407-673-1320...I don't remember whom I talked with more than a year ago, but it might be "Ken".
