Broken SS Brake Line

- My passenger side front brake line got chewed up and the SS lining is shot. Does anyone know where I can get that one line cheap? Do you think that Goodridge would warranty it (I've had it on the car for a while)?

I think they are usually sold as a set so the only other option is to find someone with an open set willing to sell one.... phuong aka gotrice usually has sets in stock.. warranty? if it broke because it was rubbbing, i seriously doubt it.

take the thing to your local race (not rice, race) shop, and they usually have all the stuff sitting on the shelf to build you one.. buy a few ends and a couple feet of hose, and you'll have a cable for about $15.

I was thumbing through the Summit domestic race catalog today on a long car trip and I noticed they sell SS lines in various lengths for pretty cheap. And it made me wonder why everyone buys the Goodridge for ~$100 when they could probably just buy a more generic line and cut it themselves

maybe cos they are more reliable when factory done...?
in anycase..thats kinda weird. I figured ss lines were like not prone to breakage or wear...what exactly happened? dont want to lose a line on the freeway or sumpth.

I can understand that as a valid reason I guess. But I've seen several threads in the past about SS lines breaking.

most of the time it's due to poor installation.. the lines are longer than the factory rubber ones, and if you don't check things, they'll rub on your tire/wheel and eventually rupture. not good.

- I really don't know what broke the steel lining. It was definitely NOT rubbing, though. The break is clean and small. Rubbing would have been much more obvious. My friend guessed that a rock could've flown up and freakishly hit it. Dunno.

- Fortunately, the plastic line, itself, did not rupture. No pressure, no brakes. I might put my OEM line back on for now, but I would hate to have to bleed the system twice.

- Thanks for the help!
