Yes Yes, the day has finally arrived. Tonight, I successfully installed my computer in my maxima. Right now I have access to over 1,000 mp3's at the touch of a remote with 6 gb's left to spare. As soon as I can afford a tv in goes dvd drive and gps.

MWAHAAHAHAHAAHHAHAHHA.

Sorry. Im just very excited =)

Do you have any pics of your install? How are you powering your computer?

What kinda computer is it?

Is it a full XT/AT box, or is it a stripped down machine? laptop?

I've seen some people disect a laptop and stick the screen in the dash, rest of the unit in the glovebox, so the keyboard flips down when you open it. awesome.

if it's a full size PC case, where are you goign to put it? I'm assuming trunk, but who knows nowadays..

it's a full sized motherboard and all but i stipped it down so that i only have the mobo, power supply and the hard drive. Tommorow i'm gonna build a nice custom box out of metal and wood and will probably place it in the trunk. That laptop idea sounds really hot, but this was cheap so it works =)

The great thing is using the remote on it so there's no kb or mouse necessary.

ahh, well.. I'm doing the book PC.

I'm just waiting till the Bose wears on me, then I'll take the dive. the Book PC is the perfect size and power comsumption (100W!).. Cheap too... Bare bones is $275-ish. most versions are i810 based so Linux will run if you choose. I would use a card with TVout, like a TNT or V3 to run it up to a display like the Alpine or Clarion. Small enough to mount under the rear deck. You'd prolly need a 4-5" space and mount a few fans in the top (12v of course.). The only down side is that you might want to consider a battery for it alone, a small one. That way you could just suspend it between trips. I wish I could find a Save-to-disk Bios (save to ram wont really cut it) like on a laptop.

Here is one, there are several makes and configs, even Tiger Direct sells one, albeit pricey with DVD.
