4th gen ECU code site...

My buddy just bought a 96 I30 and it has a check engine light. The dude said a shop told him it was the smog sensor, so he replaced that and it went away. But then the speedo wouldnt read from a stop and he would press the trip in and it would start working, but the engine light is back on. Anyone know that site for diagnosing the ecu? the one that reads the codes? also will it be the same for the I30 as it is for the Maxima? thanks for the help.

Yes, it's exactly the same for the I30.
