Sound off...What's your car payment?

Hey,

We always have the "What's the top speed you've ever done", or "How much mileage do you have"...etc, and I was wondering what everyone's monthly car payment is, and how much they originally borrowed to purchase their car.

This is out of sheer curiousity and it will allow other people to compare, for if they were thinking about refinancing.

Car Payment: $0
Originally Borrowed: $0

Paid the car in full. One payment. 2 Summers worth of work (and I still had some $$$ left over). I mean don't forget, that's almost my only expense.

I don't feel bad for paying $203 per month. Anyone that buys abrand new car from the dealer will lose $3000 or more after its driven off the lot anyway.

I paid $15K for the car, almost two years ago. I used the money that I sold my '92 GXE with, plus I had some in the bank. I think I put half down, but I'm not 100% sure. Anyways, I pay $200/month., and I still owe slightly over $5K on the car.

Later,

$390 a month - 15k 2 years ago at 23% interest. (That was $480 a month) -

Refinanced at 7% a year later and added 3k to the loan for some mods.

Now I pay $390 a month for it + the 3k.

Paid 14K for my 96SE 5spd 2yrs ago (plus 2k negative balance on my POS ford) and put down 2k cash. Paying 14.5% over 7 years = $331.01. Started paying 2k every other months and now I don't have a pmt due for 2 years.

Refinanced through PeaopleFirst.com and now have 3 yrs left at 5.49%, 220/mo. Still paying 2k every other month. Be paid off in the sprng before I hit 100k.

Would like a G35 but can't justify 800/mo payment for a car.

Going to purchase a new truck when this loan is paid off. Gonna be a V8 Expedition. Wifey can use it to transport the baby (when we have a baby - very soon I hope) and I can hook up a trailer to tow my Bronco to the trail and back.

Picked up my 95 GXE in 1997 for $16.5k.
$2500 down :: 7% apr 36 months @ $199/mo : $8k final payment.

Paid off the whole thing in less than 2 years.
Saved about $500 in interest.

It's interesting how many people paid cash for their car. What I find unusual about that is the 4th gens were bought at a time when the stock market was soaring, so it'd make sense at that time to borrow and put the cash in the market. I know I did and lost my shirt on stuff like Cisco, AOL, Qualcomm, etc. So I had payments for 24 months into early 2000. If I did it again, say on an Audi A4, I wouldn't pay cash either. Same drill--because slow and steady wins the race. But there's the problem with the A4--I'd need about a 25-28k downpayment to keep payments in the low 400's with a 24-month loan. I think that's why people like to lease, $400/mo gets you a 525i. Long-story short is a respectable "downpayment" on an A4 is the entire full-payment on the Maxima. Scary, huh? Another thought is don't pay the car in full, instead divert some of the funds into a downpay on a house. If you can't, forgo the car altogether and do the house. just my .02

Never any payments on either car, own both out right, paid for in cash. Almost leased a car on two seperate occasions, I'd like to thank my parents for convincing me not to do it. If I was to, I'd be a half into a lease for a 2001 Altima GLE or a 2001 Accord V6 EX(Throwring away money) instead of now getting ready to buy a 98 540 or GS400 outright like I am now and wouldve probably blew my own brains out if I was to be stuck with either of those cars.

Paid for my 93 GXE $250/mo for 3 years.. two months before it was paid off, I totalled it. when I finally got the insurance settlement money, I bought a 93SE 5 spd with only 20k more miles for $3200, bought my GXE back as a parts car and pocketed $3000. spent the $3000 on mods and a tranny rebuild for the SE and moved over another $5k in mods from my GXE. Then I parted out the GXE and made another $3k or so and dumped that back into the SE.
