aww...poor max looks so sad ...you shouldnt leave it out in the snow if you can help it though...get a cheap car cover if you dont have a garage (pot calling kettle black) pretty cheap at kmart...preserves body paint and saves you from scraping in the morning.

why do you hope it wasn't this year?

It was taken two years ago.
It hasn't snowed here this winter. If it does snow at all, it usually doesn't happen until February or so (but last winter it actually snowed a lot the first week of January).

Why does Texas get more snow? Depends on what part of Texas you're talking about. South Texas doesn't get much of anything. But northern Texas gets their fair share (nothing like the Northeast guys though). Northern Texas falls under the same kind of weather systems we experience here in Kansas City. The cold air rolling down the Rocky Mountains, the moist air of the Gulf of Mexico, and the general shape of the winter jet stream are the factors concerning snow in the central US. If we get a low pressure system with gutsy cold air out of the Rockys/Canada and moist air pumping out the Gulf, we're screwed. This usually means a 2-3 days of snow (6"-18"). Our snow comes in bursts. We don't get steady snow. It's much like our rain events. It snows for a few days, then we get nothing for 2 weeks, then it snows, nothing for 3 weeks, etc. Usually our snow melts a day to a week later.

As for the lack of snow in NYC, the coastal location of NYC plus the fact that nearly the whole area is paved and has buildings probably keeps the area generally warmer than the mainland. NYC generally doesn't get the dreaded "lake effect snow" because of it's coastal location.

In Golden Colorado we have already had a foot and 1/2. I go to Vail about once a week and they have already had 5-6 feet. So I am tired of the snow.
