Maxima Crate Engine

I remember a while back I was searching the internet for Crate Engines and I happened to come opon a crate engine for the 95-01 Maxima. It was a VQ30DE-K engine that produced 300hp at 7000RPMs and 240tq at 5500RPM's. I can't remember where the page was but I remember that the engine had a Compression Ratio of 11:1 and was over $8000. An ECU was included in order to make it rev out so high. Any Ideas where I saw this or has anyone else seen this page.

If your really serious about a long block VQ motor then give Greg Hekimian a call @ the link http://www.hekimianracing.com/nissan3lna.html
and if its possible w/ a motor then he can build it. Be ready to spend some $$$ but you can get a 300-350hp motor N/A.

Lub...

10 minutes later

Lub... Seriously though, I'd expect a VQ to make more than 240lb-ft if it's making 300hp. The VQ30DE-K's already made around 230lb-ft, right?

You could get 300hp out of a VQ for alot less than $8000. VQ35 shortblock, VQ30 heads (11.6:1 static compression ratio), a little basic head work, variable intake, cams, ecu, and bolt ons. Tadaa-- theres an easy 320hp.

And still being able to pop the hood and tell them it is NA is nice too.

$8000 is a lot but you have to remember that the VG starts out at 160hp(~130FWHP).....making 140hp more to 300hp and plus having a solidly built block and valve train to pour even more onto pretty much justifies the price(I still wouldn't spend that much though). when I emailed him about the motor he said its idles like hell and he suggested the less agressive 210hp "street" model for $5k! also heard good things about Paeco lately, they could probably build you a custom VQ or any block as well...

Most third gen people also are not about to throw 8K at the engine either. I wonder how many of these have been sold?

well he doesn't just keep them lying around...you have to notify him and then he'll dig you up a block/motor and build it! and thats not only for the 3rd gens, think of all the 510s and other crazy swappers out there, the VG30E is also widely used in the 510 community along with all their other crazy swaps.

Yeah the 510 guys go crazy with the swaps. I have seen some crazy combos in there.

Well the turbo might not have as big of an effect on that engine as others, mainly because the compression is raised for better HP numbers for an NA engine.

not really true...it'll have an even better effect since the engine is now making more power to begin with. just build the bottom end right so it can stand all the boost....high compression doesn't mean boost is ineffective or out of the question.
