major electrical problems

ok, i know this was really stupid of me, but i accidentally put in the battery with the connectors reversed and tried to start the car before i realized it was hooked up wrong.

I connected it correctly, and my car started once. Now the car won't start, the power window and doors dont work. No radio. Checked some of the fuses. the one labeled "electrical system" (7.5) or something like that at the bottom of the middle row is blown (and probably more). Lights work (brake, headlights, etc). I replaced the fuse twice and it blew both times. Any ideas what the problem might be???

P.S. Anybody know a good mechanic in the northern virginia area that knows electrical systems.

Thanks

check all the relays under the hood first before you take it to a mechanic

I thought it wasn't possible to connect the battery backwards.. the cables aren't that long.

thanks for the help.

no problem with the ones under the hood, but it is too dark now to get the ones in the dash out.

no problem starting the car now either.

thanks

Check your ECU for codes also... might as well to be on the safe side, altho im sure there shouldn't problems past the fuses and relays. Good luck man, I've read some posts about problems w/ electrical system in max... it's not pretty.

I agree with sprint check all the fuses and relays if it still doesn't work and you take it to a mechanic be prepared for a very expensive bill.

i blew a 140A fusable link in the fuse box by the battery. i had to go to the dealer to replace it. now the power doors and the alarm work, but the radio and power windows dont. A 7.5A fuse under the dash labeled electrical parts keeps on blowing when i replaced it. i think i shorted something in that circuit. hopefully i can figure it out.

thanks for your help guys!!!!
