Well.. after leaving a crap show that took way too long and came out to be entirely worthless, half of the guys on our team should have won stuff and didn't..

I ran over those big *** lane divider round things in the road.. not only did I completely shatter both strut bearings (as soon as you turn the wheel you can hear, a grinding and crunching noise from the top area of the strut mount), i proceeded to do this..

Not sure if any of the other wheels are bent, but none are as bad as this, while driving i could hear the air squirting out.

Needless to say, with the car going into the shop on monday to fix the busted rear cylinders, the car needing to have all of the wheels/tires checked (and the one above fixed), the fact that someone hit my car on thursday and scratched the front bumper, AND the fact sunday was my "fix the AC finally" day, it looks as though this is yet another chapter to add to the issues with the maxima book. So if you think your car has problems, "you have no idea."

Even with a bent wheel, broken strut bearings, and busted rear cylinders, you still have my favorite Maxima on the .Org. And as always, most important is that you are okay.

we were leaving the car show and i was following a bunch of people and it was two turning lanes going left and i was in the outside lane, but a lane from my right merged into me and this dumbass in a truck didn't see his stop/yield sign and blew through it and was coming over quickly, and i just moved over not thinking there would be these enormous 19" Centerline RPM killer's sitting there.. i guess i wasn't paying enough attention.

thank's for all the support guys.

steve - i think it's the strut bearing, because i have the top mounting plate, the strut bearing and then my strut bag assembly, it's not likely that it's the mounting plate and the strut bag doesn't make noise. So i just narrowed it down, but now i am trying to find out if i can get the strut bearings from Napa/Discount Auto or if I have to go through nissan?

i'm not sure about where you can get them but i do't think they are that expensive so i'm just gonna get mine from nissan. i'll just replace both of them prolly. i was thinking about taking my suspension out for the winter and then cus i'm selling the car and this is just the encouragement that i needed.

ouch! sorry for your trouble...
as far as car shows...well...sometimes(actually most often times)..the show makes you feel like it's rigged...it seems like no matter what you do, the judges seemed to have made up their minds already..

I am sorry to heay Jay.

That is one reason I never bought bigger rims and ran low profile tires in our area.

That and they slow me down.

but my 19's only weigh 17 lbs... maybe that's why they dented so easily

Its actually the other way around Jay. Mine and your rims are forged so they are stronger and withstand more. The cheaper rims get dented easier than the more expensive ones.

The width of your tires might have had something to do with it.

sorry

blah blah.. some people just have big heads.

i am sending the wheel to miami.. a friend of mine and i fixed it somewhat today.. but the car has to go in for cylinder fix tomorrow and then the rest of the wheel issue can be addressed.. i need to find some stockers now to have just in case obviously.

Spare me!

What's interesting is that we have a newbie coming here and talking major league smack about people who take as much pride in their cars as he does. Then on top of that, the same egotistical, self-righteous newbie has the nerve to castigate any member of the moderating staff on this site.

If you want to help, by all means, we welcome that, but if you are here to stir the pot, please GTFO!

(BTW, may the doorknob hit you where the dog should have bit you!)

Wheels -and- Respect....
When a wheel takes a hit like that, it is often not only dented, but warped as well.

Front wheel drive cars have wheels that have huge amounts of backspace (the lug nuts are at the extreme outside of the wheel). When the inside of the wheel takes a major hit, the whole wheel hoop shifts and does not run true.

You can check it by spinning it on the car, or on a tire balancer to see if the wheel 'wobbles' as it rotates.

Good Luck on that wheel!
