Random Technology Cat...

Hey guys,

I just have a quick question that I couldn't find in the search. I had my Y-pipe and RT Cat installed today. When the guy at the muffler shop took the Cat out of the box, he came in the waiting room to talk to me. He asked me how much I paid for the cat and yadda yadda yadda. He then put the RT Cat on top of the desk along with another run-of-the-mill cat that he had in stock. They were the exact same thing except mine had a Random Technology sticker. Also the necks were different. I thought that I purchased a High Flow Cat, but it turns out it's just a regular Cat with a sticker. Are RT Cats supposed to be high flow, or is it just a replacement cat?

I don't care because my OEM one was almost shot and I got it cheap in a Group Deal anyways, but I'm just curious.

Thanks,
-Nick

BTW, I love my Y-pipe!

The outside will look identical to OEM, it's designed that way. The inside of the cat is what makes the difference. The RT is higher flowing than OEM, not by much though. Some have said the HP gains are minimal, but gains nevertheless. Your "mechanic" was being hateful and short on brains.

Next time tell him that atleast you didn't "gut" one and kill the ozone for a few HP or better still run a test pipe w/o a cat at all...

I have the Warpspeed SS Y-pipe, and I love it! No bee's in a can...only a subtle growl at low RPMs, and it pretty much sounds normal at higher RPMs...only a little louder than before.

Thanks for that clarification. I was a little worried when he showed that too me, but not much that I can do. It was cheaper than buying a new OEM cat anyway.
