For those of you going to do the ZX upgrade and decide to rebuild the calipers.....

Watch out....dont have fingers in the way......when you air chuck/blow the pistons out....

Ouch.

Ouch, sounds painful, be careful with them brakes, do they fit over your rx7 rims? What kind of spacers are needed?

Hmmm I have not seen how they measure up yet.....figured I would make sure the calipers were fine. Either today or tomorrow I will remove my stock caliper and torque member.......mount the ZX TT caliper and Max rotor (just to test since i dont have ZX rotors yet) and loosely bolt it together to see what kind of clearance issues ill have.

My RX7 wheels have been curing up for 4 days now....so I can handle them......I think on the TT.net forums they were talking around that the "nissan" lettering on the calipers would rub the inside spokes....so they shaved the letters off.

So theoretically all I should need is a 5mm spacer or so......

theoretically.......

Good luck, keep me posted, looking for a better brake upgrade but still using the functionality of smaller wheels for the winter. Merry Xmas

Well if the gods are in my favor....this should be a "fairly" inexpensive route to big brakes...considering you can find RX7-FD3 wheels (16x8 13.8-16lbs depending on which year)for 300ish a set, sometimes with tires....gotta love ebay

So...we will say 600 for two sets of wheels....500ish for the entire ZXTT brake conversion (calipers, rotors,ss lines, pads and probably rebuild and hardware kit)

So for 1100 bucks or so, you can have ZX brakes....and Lightweight 16 inch wheels (tires are cheaper) and....another set for winter or all season tires....

Am I dreaming or what?

Its all good. I had to pull me pistons out with a pair of vice grips. I don't have access to air tools, so all is good. The 300ZX calipers are going tomorrow to get powdercoated.......
