ERTL

Read this. I have highlighted important information and pasted it here:

"These highly-detailed 1:64 scale die-cast cars are shipping to retailers now and will be on shelf for the holiday shopping season. Additional 1:64 scale and 1:18 scale "tuner" car die-cast collectibles, including the cars featured in the upcoming The Fast and the Furious 2, will be introduced throughout 2003."

Now,
from what I have seen (picked up the oogly eclipses for some friends who have real DSM's) on the back of their packaging. NO NISSANS HAVE BEEN SCHEDULED TO BE MADE. So, we need to envelop them in enthusiasm, okay? Please be responsible about this!

Take the following steps!

Address to: faq@racn.com

Use this form letter:
Dear Ertl,
I have seen that you are currently making 1:64 scale diecast cars from the movie _Fast and the Furious_. I also see that you will be making 1:18 scale cars of these same vehicles. Is there a chance you will be making any of the Nissans featured in the first movie into diecast cars? I would be very interested and excited to purchase these, as a Nissan enthusiast. As a Maxima enthusiast member of www.maxima.org and other local maxima enthusiast clubs like ((plug your local club here)), I would be particularly interested in seeing the blue 4th generation maxima (1995-1999) become a diecast model.

Thank you very much for your time,

((insert name))

End of instructions!

Please don't mess this up. This is a legitimate chance for us to get a diecast 4th gen; who cares if it is ricey. They mod diecasts now (I can give you guys a HOST of links for parts), so as long as we have the shape, we're all set, right kids? Please help us out. I am an avid diecast collector, and I love my car. I WANT A DIECAST OF MY CAR! Heck they have Dodge Intrepid diecasts, gimme a break!

So basically, we're all just going to copy and paste that standard form letter and sign off our names? It might be worth a shot. My only concern is that blue Max in the F&F had (if I remember correctly) about 15 seconds of footatage in the entire movie. ERTL may want to do the die-cast replicas of the cars that had more screen time. And if that's the case, then we'll have to e-mail Matchbox instead!

Let's start with the cars that were IN the movie. They are making cars that aren't even IN the movie as well in this line of diecasts, if you read. It's pretty stupid. If we all do this, we have a chance. I am also working on getting a custom done...but that's $. Anyhoo, yes, just copy & paste (editing the (()) stuff), send to address indicated with subject of something like "fast and the furious diecasts" and if we all do it...we have a chance. Demand creates supply.

The idea of collectibles is pretty cool. I have these lobby cards from a movie called Chinatown (before most of us were even born!) that now are worth about $300 and rare (you wont find them on the mighty eBay). I think they cost my dad around $20-$30 in the late 70's.

Wonder if anyone ever collected Maxima brochures? I know I've gotten them from 1996-2002, every year, but unfortunately I didn't keep them in one place (don't think I threw them out though). Car literature is interesting when it gets old too.

I found a 1997 one...still looking for 1998 brocures. But to answer your question, all the muscle car brochures are collectible now, so yes, car collectibles are hot items. Just look in Ebay.

I urge everyone to "spam" Ertl.

lol! Thanks, everyone! I'm really hoping they recognize the need We really need to spam them, as DEMAND CREATES PRODUCT! We don't want them to lose money. Heck, my mom said she'd buy one (she has a 96 SE).

Hey! One gen at a time! I am also working on custom options, as I mentioned. But I feel this is a good step. Hey the maxima did a nice little burnout, so maybe they will recognize it.

Anyway, thank you all for your support! We need RECOGNITION!
