Tire size

Tire size
What size 50 series tire can I use on my SE with 17" rims. I'm in NYC and the extra height would be better on these messed up streets. Soooo, I would like to use 50 series tires, but I don't want them to end up rubbing.
Let me know fellas.
Thanks

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Tire size
you can't really ask "2k+"... I was told 2000 and 2001 can use 205 tire but that's under spec for a 2002. Nissan says spec for 2002 the smallest you should use is 215.
Of course, that's nissan's spec, you can do what you want (flame suit on).

the original question was "what 50 series tire can I use on my 17" rims". Someone posted that the OEM size was already 50 series (which it is for 2k+ maximas with 17" tires) Then, the original poster said that he was not referring to a 2k+ maxima, but an '89 and that he was already running 205/50/17 on those.
No where was there mention of running 205/50/17 on the 2k+ maxima

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Tire size
ahh, I got confused in the middle there, and didn't want someone to end up stuck with tires that either don't fit (like me) or are under spec (hey, like me again!).
It's my fault that I didn't check to see if the wheels/tires would fit and are within spec on a 2k2 max, but I bought nearly new snows on steel rims off a friend's 2k max only to find that 15" wheels don't fit and 205s are too small... again, I know it's my fault but I was trying to save someone the hassle I'm going through now of trying to sell them.

For 4th gens 235/45-17 is the right tire. But I seriously recommend 235/40-18. And no, it's not gonna give your car any better handling or rattle more or slow the car down! It's just for looks.
Nissan and that 225/50-17, that is so messed up *(&)*(&*()&(%^%&&*(&*) WTF would they mount a tire that nobody makes, and be 2.7% off on the speedo as well? That was so dumb.
