Anyone using the MSD RPM switch for the VI?

To answer your question.. NO, I am not using a MSD.
Harlen, yes. ZERO problems since july. My 2 cents.
I know with all the issues some members had you might not want to go that route... just wanted you to know I was not having any problems

I was thinking the same thing. However, it would be more economical to use the Harlan if you take into account the following:
1)The MSD unit is more expensive.
2)Just like the RPM window switch, you'll probably need to pay more money for MSD to modify the unit for "one cylinder" use.
3)Again, you need to spend more money to buy different RPM pills to use with the MSD where as the Harlan has a built in RPM selector.
The good thing about the MSD is it may be better quality & more reliable, since I've read a couple stories about the Harlan wigging out at times.

There's nothing wrong with the Harlan RPM switch. The problem was with the relays we were using. If you don't run a relay, you'll have absolutely no problems. If you run a relay, there's a 50/50 chance it might not work all the time.
The MSD RPM switch will require you to have it modified by MSD for 1 cylinder operation to compensate for our coil-on-plug ignition. Overall, you'll end up spending ~$130-150 for the MSD switch vs $50 for the Harlan.

What relays are you guys using? Relay is a pretty simple device and I rarely seen them fail. Is it because the output of Harlan switch is too low to engerize the coil in the relay?

Yeah, yeah, I just wanted to know if someone was using it and with all of the replies, I know why I shouldn't use it. I didn't know that Harlan was an all-in-one unit which is good. I've been getting my parts little by little because its to cold and it keeps snowing up here in MA. Trust me, you guys will know when I install this baby.
