I was wondering if going from 50 shot to 65 shot was OK for my car. The place where I changed it told me I could up as high as 100 shot! Imagine 100 horsepower added to your Max in a flick of a switch. I plan to stay safe and use 65 shot. What shot are other Maximas running?

100 shot is the highest I would go until some way we can retard the timing. 100 shots with colder plugs. You shouldn't have any problems.

Well, IMO and from reading up....

50 shot is safe for completely stock, 65 and 75 shot is very slightly pushing it on the fuel system, but safer probably to upgrade the fuel pump(no biggie though), I'd say above that you might wanna do the injectors too for 75 shot +. IMO over 75 will give you trouble on COMPLETELY stock equipment. But THE MAX is running 80 shots on his VG 3rd gen, w/ just a fuel pump and Jacobs ignition upgrade only and he's had no probs. I guess it also helps that he has a Lv10 Stage 3 tranny rebuild too, but 65 shot will do you fine, I'd suggest a hi-flow fuel pump and the usual gauges, and all the safety acessories and you're set! I wouldn't go all out if its your first time!! contact the NOS people, they were really helpful and gave me a lot of info!

Where can I get a hi-flow fuel pump for my Max?

I wouldn't go close to 100 shot... even if you have enough fuel, the cylnder pressure would increase dramatically when you hit the bottle... dangerous.

The traditional approach would be:

1. Start out with a 50-HP shot.
2. Increase incrementally until the engine blows up.
3. Remove the NOS kit.
4. Tow your car to Nissan for "warranty work" repairs.
5. Sell the NOS kit to someone... anyone. :-)

I have a 70-shot NOS kit I'm going to install this spring. I have no plans to venture beyond a 70-shot at this time. But, who knows...? Goodluck.

............K-A-B-O-O-M !!!!!!

Ever heard that sound? Just because someone told you it was possible doesn't mean they would do it on their car, or take responsibility if you asked them to do it.

Nitrous is dangerous(to your car) if used wrong. There are are a few variables to consider when using nitrous.
1) Fuel delivery
2) Timing
3) Amount of Nitrous
4) Detonation

Two of these you can't control as your car sits, and the last will happen if you don't control #1 and #2.

I like this one "add the usual gauges"....If you don't know what to look for or what to watch and whats bad and whats not, gauges are useless. You could probably run an additional 200hp increase with Nitrous, but you need to have those variables correct, and key components modified to withstand the added stresses.

A bigger fuel pump will keep your fuel pressure high, but without telling the injectors to ADD more fuel, it does no good.

You have to tune your car in small increments, preferably on a dyno(loaded), and take the time to read plugs, 100+ octane fuel.
Timing changes and fuel increases can only be done thru the ECU. The safest way to tune a Nitrous system is to set it up as a wet system. This will eliminate the need to make changes in the ECU fuel maps, and retard the timing.
