First:
I'm headin up highway 5 to woodstock, GA and I see an SHO followin me through the traffic. I'm not goin really fast, but I'm still passin everybody. So I see him punch it behind me when he gets out in the open, I do it too as soon as I see this. I just walk away from him. Then I quickly slow down cause I realize I'm goin almost 90 in a 45 in a town where the cops are really bored. Then he flys by me and gets in front of me at a light. When it turns he hits it and I do the same, kinda hard to do it right since he was right IN FRONT OF me. Obviously he gets the jump from the light, but I hang right with him all the way up to almost 100, then there is another light and he looks over and laughs like he kicked my ***. WTF Not to make excuses, but if I hadnt just filled my tank and didnt have the sub box in the trunk, I'd have walked him easy.

Second:
Comin home on 285 southbound on the west side of town (ATL). I'm ceuisin along at 80 minding my own business when I catch a glimpse of this car comin up really fast behind me, as he passes, it's a 97 or so Max SE. I catch up and we are running side by side at just over 100. We make it through a little traffic and then hit it again. I think we might have scared the hell out of an innocent 626 driver when we passed him on each side at about 105 or so. Anyway, this guy has an SE so he leaves my GXE in the dust when I hit the lilmiter. DAMN! He could've been nice and waited around for me. Oh well.

 

No speed limiter...

 

I have the S&C package and I have a limiter too. I have the keyless entry and the electric seat and the intermittent wipers and all that and a speed limiter too.

 

maybe it's different on the newer models. I've got a GXE, and definitely DO NOT have a limiter...have had it pegged a couple times on 140+ too.

It was explained to me that the S&C package came w/ upgraded H-speed rated tires, so they removed the limiter.

 

no limiter on my car too. I drove upto 130 mpg no problem.

 

Wait, I have a 96 GXE with the S&C package and I always hit the limiter.

Is there a definitive answer to what has a limiter and what doesn't? I know that the SEs don't have one but we keep going back and forth with the limiter question. My GLE doesn't seem to have one, but I had another GLE owner tell me that he does have one. Anyone know who to ask?

 

So far, it would seem that there is only one way to find out if your car has a limiter...drive it. But nothing is ever as it seems around here anyway.

 

I took out a 99 GLE maxima the other day. I took him out with my 98 maxima gle auto. Y pipe really works!

 

hey sup yall i got a 97 gxe automatic and ive hit 137 before, i let off the gas before i could do any more. so my car definatly doesnt have a speed limiter. thanks for the warning though, im buying a 99 5 speed very shortly and i will definatly have to top speed test this car...i do NOT want a limiter of any kind

when you guys start hittin the limited what does it do? cut the gas? that would suck.
