excessive vibration in the shifter caused by differential bearings?

alright guys, everyone by now knows how poor I am and can't afford to fix the bearings YET... but for the past month or so I've gotten this excessive vibration in the shifter. When i grip it, i can feel it vibrating like hell and when i let go of it, it starts to rattle annoyingly (usually at 40+ mph). Do you think this is being caused by the differential bearings failure? BTW, this developed a month or two after i first started hearing the whining in my gears. Thanks

My bearings have all the signs of going bad, but no vibration.

Will it just get worse? And will it hurt anything?

well I don't know if you really have it or not because u are either in the VERY VERY VERY beginning stage of it or it's probably normal... but if you do have it, you'll hear the whine all the way up till 5th gear like me!

Nadir, this is the bearings? My ish has been vibrating like a biatch i thought it was the ypipe. it feels like the whole console including shifter is vibrating at low rpms? If this is the bearings i need to change them ASAP!

Other symptoms are; the previously stated high pitched wine, repeatedly leaking drive-axel seals(I have gone through three), and play in the axel.

It's either an expensive repair or a difficult DIY.

There's no problem. My 96 has done this since I bought it nearly 4 years ago with 30K miles (currently 92K miles and lots of 1/4 mile fun). The whine you're wearing is the deep 1st and reverse gear ratios. Deeper gearing typically means more noise. If you get the noise in other gears, then you''ve got some problems.
