What is the best way to ship JUST tires?

I'm going to clean out the garage. I have a few 215-55-16 tires in there that I'm going to put up on eBay. What is the best way to ship them though?

I have 3 tires - 2 would go together as a set, and 1 would be separate. When I bought one tire from Tirerack, it just shipped with a label on it. I don't think this will fly with my local UPS company. They're very **** when it comes to packaging here.

What is the best way to ship just a tire, and a pair of tires? Should I go with FedEx for these?

Thanks,
-Nick

I have ordered tires from Tire Rack on several occasions. They always shipped UPS and they would use nylon bands to hold two tires together. On my SP 5000s the shipping was only $22 for 4 tires.

If you cant get nylon bands, then you can always shipping tape the tires together. Ive done this before.

yeah, i also purchased tires from tire rack, and they just use a nylon rope bands for two tires. Thats it.

Another option is what bigdog stated, use lots of that heavy duty brown tape (postal).

my local post office said to put a label on the tread and wrap clear tape around it a few dozen times. They quoted $13 to ship a tire with no rim and $17 if it was mounted on a rim.

and I used to work at UPS so I know they'll take tires packaged the same way.

FedEx or UPS will ship the tires (Ground, obviously) if you just tape them in pairs and attatch the labels to them. I used ZIP ties to hold them together when I shipped tires, both with and w/o rims...and those were 30" SUV tires...
