Accident Question - Body Work

Ok, so I just got into an accident and the other driver is completely at fault. No one was injured as it happened at about 2 miles an hour, but there is substantial damage to the driver's side rear passenger door. My question is, since money is no object, should I take it to a dealer for the estimate and body work or should I just go to a reputable body shop? I want to say dealer because of the Sterling Mist paint, but is that an issue? Also, if anyone knows of a better place to go than the dealer on the North Shore of Boston, I'm all ears.

Thanks in advance,
Tom

Dealers don't do body work. None of them have paint spray booths, it's not their trade. Don't be fooled, you'll only pay middle man pricing if you go that route.

Chose a shop based on their work. Look at what kind of cars they are working on and ask to see some completed work. Take note on the color matching and ask to see the blends where old paint meets new paint. The blend area should be invisible to you.

One last thing to keep in mind, there is no such thing as Nissan paint! If a shop tells you they will use genuine Nissan paint, go somewhere else! Nissan doesn't mfg paint, they mfg cars.

My family run business is.....

Thanks for the info. I know i can trust it coming from a Tom driving a Sterling Mist 4th Gen. hehe. I wasn't sure if body shops had access to the same exact paint the factory uses. And there are a few big dealerships here in MA that have there own body shops. I'm not sure if they have spray booths or not. I'll have to check it out. Thanks again.

If the dealer is big enough to have their own body shop, chances are they have a spray booth. It's the law, you can't paint unless you have a booth. Unless they contract the paint work out
