Shift boot suggestions
Shift boot suggestions
My original shift boot was shot, was flakin off and had rips. So not wanting to pay $50 for a new/aftermarket one, I went to Jo-Ann fabrics and bought the material for about $2. Then I sent the original torn up boot and the new material to a dry cleaner/alternation place. $10 later and a few days, they produced a perfect replica of it, down to the way the seams were stiched. I didnt expect all that but it was only $10. So instead of trying to do it yourself for those of you who can't sew (like me), it was definately worth it to send it away.
you "sent" it there?
address please
if i cant find a place here like this.. i'll send it away
or see if my mom can stich the boot for me
only reason i don't want these aftermarket boots.. is because of the design they are stiched.. stiches are on the inside and it's usually made up of 4 pieces.. i like the way the stock one looks, 2 piece and stiches showing on the outside..
only thing i'll do this time is get a piece of real leather.. not this vinyl crap in my car now.
address please

Metal ring, I LOST mine, and I am in search one one. IF ANYBODY HAS ONE please contact me I cant find one anywhere. I didnt ask but I"m sure they can include the metal ring very easily.
The "shop" was just a local tailer/alteration/dry cleaners shop. I was really impressed with the work. THe stiching almost matched the OEM in every dimension, down to the way the folds are at the top. And it was only $10.

Thanks to Nismo I got his metal ring and hot glued it into place. The results of the $12 shifter boot looks like this:
