How can you tell when your warranty expires?

My 00 has 34K on it so I thought it was still under warranty. However, the dealership says it expired on 1/17/02. How can I verify this?

Has it been 3 years since you bought it? Warranty is 3 years/36k miles, whichever comes first. Powertrain is 5 years/60k miles.

the warranty is based on 3 years or 36,000 miles which ever comes first.obviously you expired the time before the miles.a sure way to verify it woulb be to call 1-800-gonissan.they'll tell you the date of fist use or the day you or whomever, bought the car new.you still
have the powertrain(engine, trans etc) that expires at 60,000 or
5 years which ever comes first.

I bought it used so I wasn't sure when the warranty started. Is it when the first owner takes possession of it? Is there another way to find out other than calling Nissan?

Were '00's even mfg in Jan '99? Sounds kinda hokey to me. My '98 was one of the early ones and it was mfg. in July 1997. So if your car were an early '00 I'd think it'd be mfg. in July 1999. I could see your warranty being up in Sept. to Dec. 2002, but not January 2002. Anyway, unless you have something you need fixed what's the difference, you're only 2k away regardless of the 36 months.

Your warrantee usually expires the day before you go to take the car to the dealership for repairs.

Thats just it. I was supposed to have some work done and then they said it wouldn't be covered after all because I was out of warranty due to the date.

You can get extra warranties when getting a used car. I got a 3 year 36k from the DAY I GOT IT, not inservice date, so at 66k or December 2005, is when mine ends, and its pretty much bumper to bumper, at only like $800 more total for the life of my loan. Not shabby. You should check into something like this if it isnt already too late.

Just make sure you dont get it from vehicle inservice date, but the DAY YOU GET THE car, its the dealers way of screwing you over, cause if its in service date then pay lots of $$$$ for a warranty that is void well sooner then you thought.
