What gas station do you use ?

What Service/Gas station do you use?
I was wondering what watering holes other Maxima drivers let their Max's drink at. I hear some folks swear by some gas stations and others claim there all the same. Whether Amoco, BP, Cheveron, Shell, Exxon, 76, Quicktrip, or whereever? Name the station and whatever else you feel like blurting out...

GEN:1997 Nissan Maxima SE 5-Speed Man tranny
Station:Cheveron (day N, day Out)
Gas:Premium 93 octane

D Love Feb 5, 2003 10:53 PM

clee130 Feb 6, 2003 07:35 AM

Any of the big name gas stations.

Once I used a hole in the wall ghetto gas station and my gas milage was horrible.

Sprint Feb 6, 2003 07:45 AM

in all seriousness.. my butt dyno registers about 15 fwhp more with the new formula shell.. if i get anything else.. my car just lags.. so i have two stations near by (train station 40 miles away from home, and gym 6 miles away from home) that i am going to frequently..

i have become very bias and i am only using shell now..

Lordrandall Feb 6, 2003 08:52 AM

Costco 91

Nothing over 91 at regular stations in CA.

kj043 Feb 6, 2003 09:06 AM

exxon or mobil

crazy4maxima Feb 6, 2003 09:13 AM

i used to put 94 octane Sunoco, but then i couldnt afford it so i dropped down to 93 octane... then i started using shell.. and i sware by it.

I get around 300-til at one point 350 miles to the tank on shell.. an i run hard on my 3rd gen.. i guess that 350 came at all highway driving. mixed i get around 300+.

But since running shell my max has better acceleration.

I have heard about cars running their best at certain gas stations.. but to me it all depends on which station has the freshes, cleanest, and has higher average octane level in their gas. btw i get my shell gas just after you exit the holland tunnel in NJ on the left side.:wall:

deezo Feb 6, 2003 09:19 AM

Texaco 93
Mobil 93
Exxon 93
Sunoco 93

crazy4maxima Feb 6, 2003 09:24 AM

never run anylower than 89.. try to stay on 91+.. b.c even with 89 my max runs like crap, plus i have adavnce my timing , so i have to keep the higher octane.. the last time i ran 87 was when i had no money and reduced my timing back to stock all i can say, slow as hell..

has anyone ever tried gulf gas??? i saw it in pr, and my mom used it in her old jeep cj4?cj5? but i know that the gas gulf uses in puerto rico is watered down...

Bluesbrekr Feb 6, 2003 09:28 AM

BP/Amoco/Standard 93 octane

Weasel Feb 6, 2003 09:45 AM

Citgo - cheapest premium in the area. I have no idea if it's 91, 92, or 93 and frankly I don't care. My car wouldn't know the difference.

99Maxima5sp Feb 6, 2003 10:42 AM

I run 93 Premium from 7-11 (its Citgo gas i think) or Hess Express 93 Premium

Eric

gimpatron Feb 6, 2003 10:54 AM

Chevron 93 only.

superloon Feb 6, 2003 11:14 AM

Could I ask why some of you maintain brand loyalty?

I s'pose it could have to to with service or convenience, but AFAIK, gas is pretty much the same no matter who's pumps you're sucking it out of. I think some of the larger companies (Shell, Chevron/Texaco, Exxon/Mobil) do most of their own refining, but most service stations simply pull their gas from the closest refinery, and from what I recall, most if not all the companies use the same system of pipes to move their refined petroleum around, meaning all that gas is *the same*.

Anyways, I usually go to Citgo cause its right around the corner from my house and generally the cheapest in the city for 92 octane. But if I'm low on gas while on the road, I'll fill up from whatever is closest/cheapest. Gas is gas, as far as I know.

theLoon

slickrick Feb 6, 2003 11:26 AM

whichever has 93 and is the cheapest. usually citgo.

Dave B Feb 6, 2003 11:59 AM

Man you guys are lucky that you can get 93+. Amoco/BP is the only place in the Kansas City metro area that carries 92. Everyone else has 91. It must be an altitude thing because in NJ, NY, and LA (not L. A.) I've seen 93+ everywhere. In KC, we're at 1000-1300' and 91 is the norm. Thank God I know of a service station that carries 100 octane for raceday (once I get my JWT ECU). I'll go half 92 and half 100.

Dave

Synki Feb 6, 2003 12:02 PM

scmaxima2k Feb 6, 2003 04:55 PM

Shell 93 octane. My car seems to run better on Shell and I just got the Shell Mastercard which gives me 10% off on gas purchases for 90 days and then 5% off thereafter and 1% on any other purchases. No annual fee if you fill up 9 times a year at Shell. Interest rate is high, but for me it doesn't matter since I pay it off every month. This month my bill was $7,700!

Y2KSESteve Feb 6, 2003 07:05 PM

Chevron 91 octane all the time. (91 is the best we get out here.) :(
