What's the matter with enjoying the ride? Do we always have to thinking about trade in time? Whenever I buy a car, it's a keeper. I once put 50K miles on a previous car in one year

I hope your job is giving you back at least 0.30 cents per mile. If not, I would consider getting a beater. I used to have a job that made me put 600 miles/week on my car. That's only 2400 miles/month. But still, I hated it because I was only driving to and from work. If it's for pleasure, then it don't matter to me

once you ad up stuff they pay for + base allowance it works out to 30-33 cents a mile which is fairly good , i'll i worry about is insurance payments, which is fairly expensive in my case.

But heh i get paid to drive my MAX all day long. even though that's something i would do for free

I have put about 9000 miles in 3 weeks..

...starting a week after I bought the car. Did a roadtrip from Wisconsin to Arizona, California, up to Seatlle, WA and then crossed Idaho, Wyoming, etc back to WI.

Darn, I am still surprised on how much mileage I have put on my car right after I bought it.

Now, I am wondering....how do you deduct the mileage on your tax return? Any hints would be appreciated.

last semester my commute to school was nearly 200 miles a day. 3 - 4 days a week + a lot of other driving, to work and such that i did as well..

800-1000 miles a week.

I put 12k miles on over the course of 3.5 months...

i'm at about 130k already

If you're self employed , you can deduct milage driven for business purposes as a business expense.

This summer, my wife was driving 1500 miles per week just for work.. 13,500 between over a 9 week span from June to August.
and that was JUST for school.. add another thousand or so per month in driving up to see me (before we were married)

Arghh.....

I am still in the paycheck-to-paycheck bandwagon.....
My job requires me to travel about 2 weeks out of 4 weeks in a month, on average. I still change my oil filter every 5k....that's about 2 months.....

I guess I just like to drive around...... Approaching 130k and going....

Hmmm let me see. 78,000 in December. Now I have 83,000. So yah, 5,000 miles in two months. A combination of visiting the girlfriend 20 miles away, and visiting my grandfather at home who has terminal cancer.

3500 in 4 days for me. The day after I purchased the car, too. Had to run to Kansas (from GA) for a funeral.

Wow 900 miles a day. The car must have been driven continuously!

Wow...some of you guys are crazy! hehe....would be good to get mileage back if it's for work though. In a period of 10 days or so year before last, I got something like $175 for making a few trips to a city 60 miles away from here.

I've put like, just less than 12k a year on my max since I got it. And I'm 21...that surprised me quite a bit. But I live 3 minutes from work, 2 minutes from parents place, and 7 minutes from school.

Used to put 25k a year on my previous hondas

People must enjoy the max to be putting that many miles in so little time.

I'm a self employed network consultant - All miles drive to and from a client's site are reimbursed at 36.5c per mile. All miles driven on business, not billable to a client, I reimburse myself from my corporation, as a business expense - that way I don't pay tax on it.

Two weeks ago, I went to a client that's 195 miles away.
Total 390 miles = $142.35

I bought my max becuase I knew I woud be driving a lot and my Chevy Blazer gets about 16 miles per gallon - so I guess in a way, the max is my beater!

That is a horrible way to break in the engine, unless you were changing RPM every 5 min.
