What tire?? Falken or Sumitomo???

Ok, I got my Kumho's last year, and they were very good in the summer on dry and wet pavement. But unfortunately after hitting a pothole, I got a bubble on my front tire, and they are horrible in cold weather like we've been getting here in NYC. Very loud in cold and very slippery on snow. I don't have all the $$$ to spend, so I'm between Falken 451 the new ones with nice sporty tread, and Sumitomo HTR+ which rate excellent and pretty good in snow and noise on tire rack.
Both tires I can get for around $130 in 245/40/18.
Which one should I get ???????
Thanks

Yep, HTR+ can go in the snow, no joke. I still think that's very good for an 18" tire that's a 235. Who cares what that insurance agent huggin' dude thinks (****)! He probably thinks the info on the HTR+ is false!

Better check the treadwear on the Sumitomo - not good if you care about that sort of thing.

i think ur confused btwn the HTRZII and HTR+...the Z have a treadwear of 220 while the HTR+ have a 360 treadwear rating, which is excellent. I have this tire on my car currently, 225/45/17, and it is an amazing tire, better than what i thought i might be getting...handles excellent rain, snow or shine...i drove home from albany in the blizzard sunday and was doing alright....they havent slipped in the cold weather either, they can handle sub freezing temps, so u dont have to worry bout switchin back to ur stock wheelies in the winter
good luck, i recommend the HTR+ and so would many other members on this forum

Get the htr+. That's what I have and it's great. Like what everybody has say in this thread about the sumi's are dead on, on what i think about them. You won't be disappointed.

I probably have had my HTR+ for 12,000 now. They are simply fabulous, the price is a little misleading as to how good these tires are. 235/40WR-18 and excellent in the snow! The last 2 days it's been wet, and these tires instill confidence too in the rain. I am looking forward to when Sumitomo updates this tire, because I will buy it again!

I also have the htr+ and they are fantastic. I was looking down at the radio and drifted into the snow on the side of the road, and started sliding towards the guard rail, the summitomos pulled me out of it.

I also have HTR+ in 245/40/18 ... they are great tires. Sticky in dry and wet conditions.

HTR+ :currently on my 17s = amazing tire, amazing traction in EVERYTHING

HTRZII n my last set of 17s, great tire, wore out fairly quickly, massive traction, not so great in the snow.

HTRZ n my old set of 16s, highest dry drip of any tire I've ever owned on any car, 160-treadwear though the tires held up extremely well, no good for the snow, consider these for an auto-X/street tire

HTR200 :currently on my stock 15s, excellent H-rated tire, dead quiet, awesome for the 1/4 mile
